I worked at The RMH Group full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great collective technical ability for the scale of the operation keeps them competitive with larger firms. Relatively transparent senior management and flat organization helps employees understand health and direction of the business. Excellent - but waning - reputation in the region.

    Cons

Pervasive risk aversion (more operations related than engineering related) hampers productivity, responsiveness, ability to take advantage of opportunity and plays into general fear of growth. Noticeable lack of investment in facilities and infrastructure may be a hurdle to attracting/retaining talent.

    Advice to Management

Be more aggressive and confident in setting a course, seizing opportunity, leveraging gains and growing the business to provide mobility for mid-level employees. Be more flexible and adaptable. Invest more in client relationships and demonstrate how important they are to you on a consistent basis. Spend a nickel and upgrade offices and IT.

I worked at The RMH Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There are great people working there. The company also has a great plan for bringing people up from the corps of the company to be future leaders of the company, one of the best 20 year plans that I've ever seen. The people working there are very good at their jobs. It was a pleasure working with them.

    Cons

There were some power hungry managers there that made life uncomfortable as you couldn't trust them. There was back-biting at the senior level.

    Advice to Management

Trust has to be earned and once lost, can't be regained. Without trust, there is no respect.

I have been working at The RMH Group full-time

    Pros

You will be given the opportunity to take on as much project responsibility as you feel that you can handle. The people that work at RMH are friendly, supportive, and approachable. A peaceful work environment.

    Cons

I believe that Project Management is more heavily emphasized and prized than engineering talent. There is a need for additional technical-minded engineers to help produce the work, but again, P.M. is heavily pursued.

    Advice to Management

    Value your technical talent.

I worked at The RMH Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good Benefits, Profit Sharing, Challenging Projects.

    Cons

Lack of training for advancement. Employee left to own devices for training and advancement. Management tends to react rather than act. Poor project planning.

    Advice to Management

Take the time to actually train your people to take over for those leaving. Plan ahead and act accordingly rather than "react" to crisis.

RMH supports employee growth and promotes a good work/life balance
RMH has great leadership in green design and high performance buildings

Office space is dark and old fashioned (offices on exterior with cube farm in the middle)
Organizational structure limits discourages cooperation and support of other divisions
    Internal transfers are not encouraged

    Advice to Management

Be flexible; give support to new ideas from employees; don't be fearful of change; continue to be green; redo the office.

Large variety of and very diverse projects
    benifits are ok

once again they are not a competitive paying company

    Advice to Management

don't be so cheap, I cost that much for a reason. They have a hard time with the younger employees because they don't understand our needs.
