I have been working at The Renfrew Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent staff and Management, beautiful environment to work in. I have never worked in a company whos staff cares so much about its patients. I have great confidence in our treatment program and staff. The Renfrew Center has helped so many women and adolescents girls go through recovery from their eating disorders in a respectful and safe manner.

    Cons

I'm really quite pleased with my experiences at The Renfrew Center and have no Cons to list at this time.

I worked at The Renfrew Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I did not work in the clinical side, but I have met and made some very good friends at this facility. One of the hardest working people I have ever met work here and Renfrew should be proud to have them. I was proud to work amongst them and miss them to this day.

    Cons

Renfrew means well, but they need to start appreciating their employees more. No matter how many pumpkin carving contests or BBQ's you pull together, these people need pay raises and they need to be appreciated for their hard work. I've seen too many good employees leave on account of that.

    Advice to Management

You need to focus on the issue at hand. Your pay is below the average pay for the area and you need to stop opening new facilities while denying your employees raises for the 4th year running. J.D Rockefeller once said "A company's greatest asset are their employees" You should adopt this policy.

I worked at The Renfrew Center part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The patients are the only positive experience here. You will gain a lot of clinical/psychiatric experience and gain great professional growth/rapport with patients however, expect to feel unsupported and thrown to the waste side. They treat their patients better than they will ever treat you.

    Cons

This place is extremely toxic, even for the patients. The clinical staff is far from professional in the amount/level in which they mistreat and expose their employees. They favor their UT model which is a joke to the patients and to the employees who implement them. They provide no supervision or training and always be aware of lack of diligence coming from the clinical staff. They want you to implement the UT, but provide no additional support for this to happen. They manipulate their employees and the business in general is run like a Ma/Pa pizza shop. They rely heavily on the amount of patients admitting and treat them like cash cows, taking whatever comes in and pressing staff to get that insurance check. This place is far from therapeutic and I wouldn't recommend any patient even admit there much less someone to work there. Its very clicky and if they don't like you, you'll be replaced and/or they will find a way to get rid of you. I would stay far away from this company, you won't grow and this place will not serve you except to suck what they can out of you and throw you to the side.

    Advice to Management

Run a better company, be more fair to your employees, value their opinions and recognize when good work is present. Allow more growth through the workplace and utilize your counselors, they know more than anyone that works there.

I worked at The Renfrew Center (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The mission is laudable and most of the staff were really dedicated. The pay was decent and the benefits center competitive.

    Cons

The CEO was very isolated and the COO who recently retired was extremely manipulative. Hard work and excellent results meant nothing if they didn't like you

    Advice to Management

Your clientele is mostly younger women. Bring in new blood that can relate to millennials. Stop managing by your gut and let the results guide decisions

I worked at The Renfrew Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Only pros were watching some of the patients overcome their eating disorder. If the patients were looked at as more of a dollar sign it would be even better

    Cons

Worst management I have ever encountered especially the corporate office. Each office should be their own entity but that is not the case.

    Advice to Management

    Close the place down

    Pros

Great clinicians. The consumers are wonderful people who are looking for help.

    Cons

CEO does not care about the staff that work so hard and he really does not give a flying F about the consumers other than if they have paid the bill. Sam just wants to make sure that his pockets are stuffed and his staff remains subservient.

    Advice to Management

    RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
