    No Room for Growth

    Pros

Organization does a lot of really good work and the non-officer employees are good peoples.

    Cons

There's no room for growth or promotion internally unless you are: 1) A Salvationist 2) Related to a Salvationist 3) VERY Christian (if not a Salvationist) This is an organization whose mission is to "meet human need without discrimination," which is a standard they only hold themselves to externally (which is good!). Internally they couldn't care less about that, especially when it comes to promotions and hiring born out of nepotism or religious affiliation. The organization as a whole doesn't value its employees. This is due in part to the officer system that has them moving around to new positions, they typically are unqualified for, every few years and them wanting to "leave their mark." Unfortunately for the non-officer employees, the mark they leave is almost always one of harm. If you come to The Salvation Army looking for career growth potential, it is not there. Raises are nearly impossible to come by no matter how much work you put in, and the same goes for internal promotions. Officers stand above the employees and leadership has their own priorities, which rarely match up with creating a positive work atmosphere. ---- As a pandemic aside, this is also an organization that rushed employees back to the office, took away tele-commute days that were approved prior to the pandemic, and did not ask about vaccines.

    Pros

Above average pay M-F work schedule Very laid back and easy job if trained properly

    Cons

Management had no ecommerce experience whatsoever. Management showed up late/didn't show up to work at all Management fell asleep at her desk on several occasions. HR was absolutely no help in the blatant discrimination my manager displayed to me and several other employees. Extremely unprofessional management who would curse and was beyond rude to employees and customers. Never experienced any work environment like that at the E-commerce department at Salvation Army.
