I have been working at The School District of Lee County, Florida

    Pros

First and foremost would be the location of the district and the diverse population that it serves. The area can be described as another melting pot of America working together for progress. The area has wonderful weather and a variety of available activities for the whole family. There are also numerous opportunities for single individuals to secure friendships in various sporting and cultural activites.

    Cons

budget constraints and cuts proposed by the Florida state legislature can adversely affect and slow progress. The location for residence also has a downside in that you are quite a distance from anything outside the state of Florida. You also have to face possible hurricanes during season.

    Advice to Management

All in all very effective and progressive

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at The School District of Lee County, Florida for more than 8 years

    Pros

Working with kids is always a bonus. Giving kidys all you got is what makes teaching worthwhile

    Cons

The system has changed so much. Too political, little autonomy, someone always looking over your shoulder.

    Advice to Management

    I gave up

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at The School District of Lee County, Florida full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

The Lee County School District provides opportunities for their employees that benefit their health and well being. Lee County is a great place to live.

    Cons

The negative side to this district is the lack of follow through and lack of consistency. The district does not have clear direction at the highest level down to the school administration level.

    Advice to Management

The advice that I would give is provide staff with clear guidelines and simply mean what you say and say what you mean. Too often within this district the authority figures say what people may want to hear at the moment and this often leads to other staff members being required to clean up what was said in haste.

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at The School District of Lee County, Florida full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They have a large budget for Special Education needs. I was a SPED teacher.

    Cons

They like to keep teachers "on edge" as a form of control. They motivate already motivated teachers through threats instead of praise or rewards. This is county wide.

    Advice to Management

Recognize the awesome staff you have before they all leave.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at The School District of Lee County, Florida full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The students are what I go to work for each day. The location is perfect, great weather, beautiful landscape. The teachers and staff are great.

    Cons

The administration does not believe in civil liberties or rights. They will treat you as though you are guilty from the beginning. There is no due process. The administration takes the word of students and parents over the teachers and staff. Extremely stressful.

    Advice to Management

Take some courses in people skills, management and civil rights.
