I worked at The School District of Lee County, Florida full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Supportive administration, staff, and fellow educators; cooperative teaching staff, professional atmosphere; competitive salary; summers off; good continuing education; excellent facilities; cutting-edge technology

    Cons

The students were often difficult to motivate, and the struggle with electronics was real every day. Absenteeism and tardiness were ongoing problems as well.

    Pros

    Cons

Not much on boarding instruction Most teachers do not have school pride Students are not proud of school

    Advice to Management

Implement a more strict phone policy and support grading and discipline decisions teachers make rather than always taking the students side. Also, there are many times when security is called and does not show up to remove a student

I have been working at The School District of Lee County, Florida full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Working with kids is great and rewarding.

    Cons

Expectations on teachers in comparison to salary is way off. There is no way to get everything done during the "contract" hours. You can not be successful without working numerous extra unpaid hours. If salary was higher there would not be an issue of working extra hours.

    Advice to Management

Fight for higher pay for teachers or higher more.
