I have been working at The School District of Lee County, Florida full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The children and families , schedule, Christmas break, and Sunshine ☀️ weather!

    Cons

Low pay! Very low pay! Good ol’ boys system. All on who you know for any type of advancement in ESE! ESE department at the school I work at is not supported by administration at the school. Gen ed is supported because test scores are what matters. Very clicky administration and obvious on whom the favorites are. Unprofessional environment not best practice. More screaming and yelling. Ese is definitely behind in... this district perhaps the state of Florida?

    Advice to Management

Pay more for quality and qaulified staff! The pay is absolutely a joke here! The cost of living is way high but the pay doesn’t reflect that! Administration needs to actually care about ese students and not treat them poorly or forget about these children. Unfortunately, they do at my current school. Have higher expectations for staff on being professional ie: not screaming and yelling at kids and not on their cell... phones.

I have been working at The School District of Lee County, Florida full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There are many opportunities for different jobs and different school locations. You can retire with a Florida state retirement. the school district adds money to your retirement. Health insurance is paid for. Dental and vision available.

    Cons

Very low pay, not all management is qualified for their jobs

    Advice to Management

Don't sell the right to name fields in the school district to businesses. We don't want our kids participating in sports on fields named after bail bondsmen and strip clubs.
