I have been working at The Search Agency full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great co-workers - smart, hard working, passionate about what they do
Nice perks - company-paid yoga and lunches 2 days a week
Flexibility - fairly good work life balance
Secure industry - there will always be work!

    Cons

    Organization changes too often
Upper management is a bit of a good-old boys club
    Few opportunities for growth
    Lower than average pay

    Advice to Management

Really pay attention to your employees' strengths and stop trying to fit everyone into the same box. Not everyone has the same skills. Forcing employees to be more technical when they're really more creative is demoralizing.

    Pros

    Fun and Lively
    Smart co-workers
Great leadership and understanding senior management
    Flexible and easy going
Opportunity to work with big brands/ clients
Eat club free lunch twice a week
    Yoga/ friendly competitions/ donuts/ free food
    Clean office
ping pong table, darts, foosball, board games etc.

    Cons

Workload can be more during client presentations
Solid bonus plan and growth plan
Provide more training to junior team members
    Ongoing training for teams

    Advice to Management

Establish specific training for employees. Ensure employees are happy and make them stay. There have been some departures lately that affect the teams. It's difficult to explain new people coming on board every 6 months to the clients.

I worked at The Search Agency full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    1. The company as a whole does everything it can to keep employees happy.
    2. Leadership at The Search Agency is incredibly transparent and direct.
    3. Employees at The Search Agency are well educated, smart and driven.

    Cons

    1. The company first loyalty is to its sustainability.
    2. Leadership is extremely loyal, and it's hard to work your way up the company ladder.
    3. Employees are not more important than the group. Always broaden the scope of your education and experience.

    Advice to Management

I am a huge fan of the men and women who lead the TSA. My advice to the President, CEO and company executives, is to find an easier method of encouraging employees to share ideas, sales leads, and recommendations.

I worked at The Search Agency full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There were some nice perks such as yoga/pilates twice a week and cell phone plan reimbursement. It was also great having free snacks in the kitchen; I saved a lot on groceries! Most of the associates and lower-level managers were great people as well. I worked in paid search and loved my team!

    Cons

While most people were pleasant to work with, there was also a lot of drama. Everyday there was a new piece of gossip and certain employees enjoyed spreading rumors. There was also a lack of professionalism; employees regularly came in to work in revealing outfits and comments were often made about the attractiveness of certain coworkers. Upper level management was also not transparent with us; for example, the office is moving to Glendale and potential employees weren't told until after they were hired on. We were also pushed to use certain vendors for tactics like call-tracking because the CEO had a relationship with the vendor, even though we were already using a different service that worked better for the client. Work from home and vacation policies were enforced differently depending on your manager as well. The search, social, SEO and display teams are very siloed so while you're told during your interview that you'll have the chance to cross-train and everybody works together, it's not the case. I felt like I couldn't trust most of the upper-level management; when we asked questions about the move to Glendale our president and CEO became angry and gave vague answers for most questions. Turnover was also very high so it created a negative work environment.

    Advice to Management

Be transparent with your employees. Also, for a digital marketing company, moving to Glendale isn't a smart decision as our vendors and clients are all in LA!

I have been working at The Search Agency full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The Search Agency is filled to the brim with people that genuinely care about the work they are doing, the clients they are working with and ultimately the consumers they are helping to reach.

You mix that with a constant zest of curiosity for "what's next" and you've got a great mix!

    Cons

As agency life goes, the ups and downs of overall morale are directly correlated to the ups and downs of client work and the challenges that come when currently available resources are outpaced by current workload. A con for sure, but from what I've seen, that's par for the course when working for any agency :)

    Advice to Management

Not sure if there's a way around this - it seems to be another

I have been working at The Search Agency full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are quite a few perks you can enjoy while working for The Search Agency. Below are only a few and by working here you can experience even more.

    Flexible Hours
    Catered Lunches
    Free Parking
    Snacks galore
Work from home on situational basis
Open Communication between manager and employee
Car pool vans - Van Pools
Soon to be- Brand new updated office with ping pong table and lots of sunlight

Something great I've noticed is the amount of growth opportunities. If you are able to manage more responsibility, and are engaging and motivated, you should have no issue growing within the company. If you are vocal and make your career path known and goals you are looking to meet, most managers are very interested in helping you achieve those. This is a company to build a career with. Everyone takes their jobs very seriously.

    Cons

The office can be a bit quiet which some could view as both a pro and a con. In my opinion, the more discussions and/or friendly conversation, the better.
