I have been working at The Standard full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great employees and managers in some areas

    Cons

Senior management is completely out of touch. They're only interested in lining their pockets with stock options and cash. Rest of employees are left out to dry. Culture in some areas is poor.

I worked at The Standard full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good people in the lower ranks but talent development and retention is bad especially with minorities.

    Cons

Ethical fade, unfounded bias permeates the leadership culture. Most leaders do not know the business well enough to lead it and lack true management skill. Upper and senior management turns a blind eye to reality and lets unfounded commentary persist in the absence of facts.

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at The Standard full-time

    Pros

Some great people are employed there. Fair with the work/life balance

    Cons

Horrible senior management is CS. You are good if you are a part of the 'boys club'. Sr Management tends to throw their non senior managers under to protect themselves. HR is really no different. Have witnessed them go after an employee for no reason and turned it into a witch hunt to save the Sr manager. These groups are a complete embarrassment to the company.

    I worked at The Standard

    Pros

    Standard has an articulated strategy

    Cons

Standard does not adhere to its strategy and most of the senior management are only focused on day to day operations.

I have been working at The Standard full-time

    Pros

Nice location, some nice people - very dependent on the department you're in.

    Cons

Extremely poor senior management. Very judgemental - either act like them or shut up and move on.

I have been working at The Standard full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The only pro is a majority of the people I work with at my level are amazing, hard working individuals who truly care about the customers we are working hard for. I've met lifetime friends working here.

    Cons

Everything else. Benefits have slowly gotten worse over time, and they cut perks such as vacation buy. No raise in years but my workload has almost doubled in the last couple years. Management is so out of the loop it's pathetic. Analyst are quitting after barely making out of the classroom due to poor morale and unreasonable work load. Expect to work no less than 50 hours a week. And not get any sort of reward for constantly busting your behind to meet unrealistic expectations. Senior management has no idea what to do to fix the workload and people are drowning. And we know at the end of the year we won't get any raise, so really, why even bother? Unfortunately that's the attitude most people have. Also Greg Ness is a terrible leader. Greedy beyond believe. Manages to get muti million dollar raises each year for himself and other execs but the worker bees get nothing.

I worked at The Standard full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

reasonable benefits, downtown location and if you can manage to find a decent manager, not too horrible

    Cons

While Care About People & Do the Right Thing were two of the core values of the company, it certainly seems like those have been thrown out the window in favor of lining the wallets of senior management. The "lifers" have started leaving as they no longer believe in the organization...always a bad sign...

I worked at The Standard full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Some nice people work here

    Cons

Steady decline since going public. Slowly taking away employee perks and benefits, it's a stock company afterall, and shareholders get the goodies while employees get the shaft. MANY high quality managers and solo performers have left this company over the last ten years. Remaining senior management team is NOT strong. What's worse, there are no internal employees to replace them because they've all been weeded out. Rank and file employees not held in high regard.
