    Cons

Commission based pay is a no go in my opinion hourly incentive should be provided due to the fact employees work really hard keeping the showrooms in great shape!

    Advice to Management

The managers I worked with/for at the Dunwoody location are amazing!

I worked at The Tile Shop, Inc. full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They have a beautiful showroom with a huge selection of tile. There were some good coworkers who made the job not so horrible.

    Cons

Coworkers constantly stealing others clients... the manager will do little to help even though you have a paper trail to prove it. Managers steal your deals as well. Managers have little sales training and think they are teaching some new techniques. They expect you to rush the door to customers which customers hate. You are always being told how you are going to make so much but it never transpires. You are 100% commission but are expected to clean, restock, help customers which you get $0, work 50-60 hours and weekends, load tile from the warehouse to client's vehicles, and make the numbers so the manager and assistant manager get their bonus pay. You will rarely even get a lunch break. You are responsible for calling other locations to find tile for clients because there is none in the warehouse. If you can go 6 months will little pay, you may be able to start making money after you have built up your client base.

    Advice to Management

Quit promoting sales associates to managers if they are not honest and qualified to lead a team. Pay employees hourly, plus commission to ensure the happiness and loyalty of your employees. Stop demanding managers get employees to write good reviews online and start making real changes in your organization.

I worked at The Tile Shop, Inc. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pretty retail outlets, not so pretty culture.

    Cons

Commission only sales, but responsibility for store and stock maintenance/ effectively taking you off the floor. Randomly assigned quotas. High turnover. Upward mobility dependent on your ability to drop your life and run on a moments notice. Not for the squeamish.

    Advice to Management

If you respected your employees, ran the business on your associate's shoulders - rather than standing on their backs, perhaps you'd have something. The lack of loyalty to staff - store level and corporate - is appalling and amazing.

I have been working at The Tile Shop, Inc. full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent leadership, no show of favoritism, fair and balanced by the book management, attentive to personal scheduling request of employees, manager never asks more of his employees than than he is willing to do himself, manager is a great trainer, manager is willing to work with employees and customers to ensure all tile needs are provided. Brian provides continued training to all employees in order for them to continue to grow with in the company. I have never seen a manager work as hard for his store and for his employees as this man. He is a great manager and a fantastic leader. Brian is enthusiastic, positive, and funny.

    Cons

Hired on with a different manager who provided very poor leadership and training. Had to work for a little while at a tremendous disadvantage due to poor training which made me unsure about working with the computer system. Lots of heavy lifting. Required to work every Saturday 8:00am to 6:00pm. Rare scheduling of two days off in a row.

    Advice to Management

Thanks for bringing in a manager to our store that raised employee morale and provided a renewed energy to our sales staff which enabled us to work better as a team, and brought our store to a top notch quality store.

I worked at The Tile Shop, Inc. full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The compensation can be attractive, and the idea of being able to create beautiful spaces and gain knowledge about something that is practical to any homeowner is wonderful.

    Cons

The culture of the company, being straight commission dirty things happen. Very tough to break in at an existing top producing store with contractor base.

    Advice to Management

This company needs a top down culture change.
