I have been working at The Toro Company full-time

    Pros

Plenty of room for personal growth and development to those who are motivated and take charge of their own path. Compensation, benefits, and work/life balance are all positive and fair.

    Cons

Accountability is not a strong suit and there is much waste because of this.

Disconnect between teams - Engineering, Marketing, Service - in the Commercial Division ultimately leads to lack of focus on the customer, their needs and their experience. Being so disconnected from the customer perpetuates a culture of hurrying to get the next thing to market rather than addressing existing/legacy product opportunities or voice of customer feedback in a meaningful way. Accountability on this side of the house would lead to a much leaner business and even higher customer satisfaction.

    Advice to Management

Place focus back on the customer from the top of the organization to the bottom.

I worked at The Toro Company (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Overall a good organization with mostly good, well-meaning employees. The culture is targeted on creating a family feel for employees; this can ring hollow at times. I had the opportunity to obtain an advanced degree while working full time utilizing tuition reimbursement programs. Many employees at corporate are long-term; 10+ years. Current and recent past CEOs have been groomed from within the organization.

    Cons

Mentorship and career development is spotty. Can be challenging to find growth opportunities if you are not identified early as a management development track employee.

    Advice to Management

Be open to and aware of current employees with untapped potential and provide opportunities to identify and develop them.

Awesome culture , friendly workers, summer hours-you get out at noon on fridays.

    Cons

Still trying to catch up with technology.

    Advice to Management

The culture you have created is amazing! Focus more on technology and not just engineering.
