I worked at The Tutoring Center part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working at the Tutoring Center was a good experience. Every Center Director has to go through a rigorous process before they deemed eligible to lead a center, so they are wonderful people. Employees at the center are also picked carefully, so you get to work alongside capable individuals. You get to build good relationships with your students because it is one-to-one instruction, and hours aren't long if you are simply looking for a part-time position (16 hours a week, 4 hours each day for four days a week). Lots of flexibility depending on how well-staffed the center is.

    Cons

For one-to-one instruction, the pay could be higher. The approach of the learning technique at the center is definitely unique and different from any other after-school tutoring service out there, but it has its flaws. It is essentially based on a token economy, so if students misbehave they do not get rewarded. This has its drawbacks as some students do not care for the rewards, meaning they will refuse to do what they are supposed to. You have to be creative and find ways to encourage the students (especially younger ones) to stay on-task.
