Phenomenal Growth and Innovation Opportunity
Aug 18, 2022 - Development AssociateRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Growing exponentially into larger and larger projects with more exceptional personnel as time progresses - Provides substantial freedom to manage your schedule and maximize your efficiency and personal work style - I’ve been given the ability to grow myself professionally via mentorship opportunities and new challenges - UIP gives the resources to thrive in your role, and constant communication as to how to hone your skills in it - Plenty of upward mobility - Exposure to the vertically integrated structure has helped to understand how all the aspects of real estate connect I chose to grow with UIP and am thankful for what that decision has brought. The responsibilities I’ve gotten here I could never have dreamed of at another organization. I’ve been given enough freedom and resources to be immensely successful. I’d especially recommend for those trying to start their career in RE Development. You won’t find access like this anywhere else.
Cons
- More workplace gathering events would be great, although COVID caused the frequency to decline - Sometimes project staffing is lean but that has also been improving as of late

Short termers flock here and move quickly
Jul 26, 2022 - Property Manager in Washington, DCRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great place for those just passing through to the next job because turnover is high and pay is decent. They fill your week with free lunches that distract you from the many leadership issues. It’s easy to get the VP or Senior manager title with very little education
Cons
No substantive training. Employee retention is at an industry low. Technology is dated and there is no value placement on reputation or customer service. Regionals are more concerned with reports than people. The company focuses more on portfolio growth and acquisitions while property management fails to meet tenant’s basic safety and customer support needs.

Pros
- Great place to learn - Casual Office culture - Lunch 3 times a week at corporate office - Solid benefits (401k Match, College Tuition assistance) - Executives will always help and sit down to answer questions - Summer Fridays (Half-Day on Fridays during the summer) - Company looking to grow
Cons
- Communication on overall goals/when new hires are coming in from upper management (Didn't know someone was joining my small team until the day of) - No/minimal work from home options ( Would like to see a hybrid option, 1-2 days out of office) - Low initial salary offers (Initial offer was ~10% below market value)

Pros
- The company just added new management, who appear to be listening to employees and want to improve the company culture. Seems like things are changing. - Many small perks help - free breakfasts and lunches, company events, free parking, office closes early on Fridays in the summer. - 401k match is important to me, because my previous employer didn't have one.
Cons
- Communication from leadership could be better. - Lots of new staff so sometimes it's hard to find someone who actually knows processes. - Would like more training.

Working at UIP
Jul 13, 2022 - Project Accountant in Washington, DCRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I love working at UIP.
Cons
Doesn't offer remote working from home.

Pros
From the interview to my 3 months of being here, UIP does not seem to know how to let me down. The company's culture alone encourages me to want to do more, want to work harder, want to become a team member to everyone to contribute and maintain UIP principals. I can go on about the pros here but, the appreciation and thoughtfulness that each and every person in the company gives is the reason I get up every morning.
Cons
The only con would be that I did not work with UIP sooner. Yes, UIP is still growing but when you understand the end goal, you deal with the growing pains. Plus, Troy and Susan are awesome at making you feel better about getting through those times.

Pros
None at all. Unless you like to be miserable.
Cons
Where to start. Owner is abusive. Owner is selfish. Owner is obnoxious. They pay monthly, which is illegal.

Pros
The company's portfolio has expanded from 1000 to 3000+ units within 5 years. This has opened opportunities for advancement and UIP does a fantastic job of promoting from within. Despite the growth, UIP cultivates a small business atmosphere where the leadership know and appreciate onsite employees. Hard work is recognized and advancement is based on a merit. The leaders respect a good work life balance so plenty of PTO and leave is available.
Cons
There are growing pains, particularity in staffing, which they are working to fill.
