    My fellow employees were great.

    Cons

    It is a dead end job with no room for advancement or pay increases. Absentee ownership, only interested in the store and an outlet to ship wine.

    Advice to Management

    Invest in your employees so they can afford to make a living in the Napa Valley.

    Pros

    The UPS Store Inc. Headquarters (in San Diego, CA) is a small UPS subsidiary with about 370 employees. Everything that needs to be done to support the stores happens there - training, marketing, franchise support, IT support, legal, real estate, finance, executive office, etc. This gives people, especially those fresh from college, a great experience in finding their niche, and gaining new skills and valuable experience. As far as leadership, those I worked with were dedicated, approachable, and top notch.

    Cons

    Wages are lower than the competition. Increases are too low to be a motivating factor. It seemed like work was not evenly distributed.

    Advice to Management

    Find out where the greatest needs are and bring in support.
    Raise the wages and annual increase.
    Find a way to reward your employees that serve the staff.

    Each The UPS Store is a family owned franchise. This allows each employee to work in a close-knit environment with familiar faces. It is a fast paced job full of surprises and new things to learn each day.

    Cons

    If you are not partial to working alone or learning in a live environment, The UPS Store may not be for you.

    Pros

    Great atmosphere, awesome owner and employees, family environment, clean, decent incentives, willing to work with their employees. Decent hours. Sundays off and closed by 4 on Saturday. Gives space for a social life .

    Cons

    Loved working there but would've been nice to focus solely on my job title. You kind of have to be able to do handle front end (cashier,packing,shipping,etc) responsibilities as well as print & design jobs.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work, you're making employees better people.

    Pros

    The UPS Stores are franchised and individually owned. This can mean that each store can vary wildly in its advantages and disadvantages.

    Flexible Schedule
    Great office experience
    Generally have a good amount of autonomy
    High knowledge and proficiency ceiling

    Cons

    It can become repetitive
    Customers often complain constantly about shipping prices.
    As with all retail, you will lose all faith, love, and respect for human kind.

    Advice to Management

    Hire carefully and back up your employees to clients. I was fortunate to have a boss who was unflinchingly loyal and respectful to his employees. I have met other owners that DO NOT treat their employees well.

    Pros

    The job itself is great. It is constantly changing and evolving. You are able to communicate with many different people with very different needs.

    Cons

    No benefits. No raises. No time off. No one accepts responsibility for errors. Often feel as though I have to gouge the customer. No paid overtime.

    Give employees motivation to stay and work for you

    Pros

    Small place, works with school if you go at night or online, work at your own pace as long as you get the job done, get to know the locals

    Cons

    No room for growth into actual UPS, can be stagnant quick, difficult to do for a long period of time at low salary.

    Advice to Management

    Creating a part-time system would allow more students to join instead of having an 8 hour shift that is difficult to manage with school.
