I have been working at The UPS Store full-time

    Pros

    Alot of car time.

    Cons

Awful management, long hours, forced to “volunteer”. They pretend to be a progressive company, but thats just to appease people. Your not aloud to have a beard, you have to work 14 hr meetings. Bad, stay away. No opportunity for advancement unless your willing to move to a random US city. There “culture”, is brow beating and judgmental.

    Advice to Management

Have the senior leadership retire, not a good leader, person, or innovator.

I worked at The UPS Store part-time

    Pros

    It's a job with wages.

    Cons

The owner (also the manager) is rude and condescending to everyone, employees and customers alike (unless of course the customers are other business owners). Both stores have a local reputation for this.

Training is minimal (and you will get chewed out for asking for more training) and makes it difficult to provide customer assistance without help unless you already know your job inside out. However, the manager hates being asked to help, even when no-one else is around. It doesn't help that the place is usually understaffed during busy hours.

Safe lifting practices are discouraged, despite the bulk and weight of the items you will often deal with.

Despite lack of training and support from the management, the workers take the blame for problems and customer dissatisfaction.

The only break is lunch and employees are rarely permitted to sit, despite long hours and long periods of time without customers or work.

    Advice to Management

Treat people with respect and hire more workers.

I have been working at The UPS Store full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

*Well, I like my coworkers alright and the customers are good where I work.
*Offers some challenges. (You got to figure out what will work and sometimes you have to make something work)
*When you get a hang of it, it's not that hard.
*My job feels pretty safe and stable as far as jobs go.

    Cons

*Each store is different (may or may not be a con)
*There is a lot to learn.
*Likely no benefits (the stores are franchises, so there may be an owner that will give benefits).
*There isn't really any way to make a career out of it, unless you get lucky and become a manager some where or if you buy a store.

    Advice to Management

My management at the store that I work at is pretty good.
