I have been working at The UPS Store part-time for less than a year

    Pros

The environment is low stress. The day to day tasks are usually fairly enjoyable and they vary daily. Shipping and packaging are not extremely difficult tasks.

    Cons

There’s not really much room to advance because each store is a franchise and there’s only a couple of different titles you can have (store clerk, manager, owner).

I worked at The UPS Store full-time for more than a year

    Pros

You get to learn all of the basics as far as faxing, scanning, copying, etc. The customers/mailboxholders can make the job great once you form a relationship with them.

    Cons

This isn't a job where you want to stay. Only think temporary. They are all franchises. With that being said, you will more than likely not receive benefits, paid time off, vacation, or even lunch breaks.... It can also be very stressful depending on the owner.

    Advice to Management

If you find an employee thats great at what they do, make sure they know they are appreciated with at least some form of a raise or incentive to stay....

I have been working at The UPS Store full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Latest the store close it 7pm. Sundays 10am to 3pm. Closed on holidays. Take vacation whenever you want.

    Cons

Minimum wage. Individually own. No benefits that you can live on. No holiday pay or vacation pay. Moving up doesn't make that much of a difference wage wise.

    Advice to Management

Show more love to your employees. Don't treat them like dirt. Be fair.

I worked at The UPS Store part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Independently owned, manageable list of duties, slight room for growth.

    Cons

Realize that it is a franchise and unlike corporate FedEx Stores, this can be limiting in growth.

    Advice to Management

You get what you give. Team work makes the dream work.

I worked at The UPS Store part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Wonderful franchise to have the opportunity to work with as it is highly professional and backed by UPS best practices.

    Cons

Owner sold franchise and I was out of a job.

    Advice to Management

Allow the Franchisees to sell more gift store items and upscale boutique gift and stationery items since stores are usually in retail environments and will draw more business.
