      Disposable worker

      Pros

Great staff to work with and to train with. Made great friends here. Everyone is always willing to help each other and get through the days that could could be grooming.

      Cons

Management does not care anything about its employees. They write policies for the staff to follow without even knowing what we do or how things work. When you bring up how the policy does not work, you are belittled and told that is not your job and get back to work. They have made so many steps, checks, and processes that you have no time to do the real job, you are doing the extra junk to make management look good, while we have to do this at the expense of patient care; you have no time to get to know your patient and have them feel cared for and they can trust you. Instead it is run in and run out so that we can handle the amount of work for three people but are expected to do it alone. When you have issues, management sees that as a problem and a weakness and makes it very hard for you too function so that they can either feel like they have authority and that you owe them. The high up executives are so busy and disconnected from their staff and mangers that they don't see what is going on and letting the managers bleed their staff dry till they are all gone. Their is so much turn over because the minute staff get out of basic training they see and feel the chaos and uncaring nature of management.

Experience is highly dependent on which team you work on.

      Pros

Often work on a team that is truly collaborative and supportive. Some positions have a little bit of room for experimentation and innovations. Working in a University environment provides the chance to work with creative and interesting staff and students.

      Cons

There is a bureaucracy for *everything* and it slows down a lot of work. Salaries aren't competitive with what you could get in the private sector (but there are other advantages that offset the pay issue). Benefits are State of NC benefits and aren't great. Though the State Pension System is one of the better run ones in the country.
