I have been working at The Valley Health System (Nevada) part-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

Good benefits. Great teamwork. Charge nurses are very helpful. Flexible schedule with ability to pick up shifts at other hospitals within the system.

      Cons

If you pick up a shift to help cover a sick call, sometimes they will put you on standby on your scheduled shift since it puts you into overtime. A unit clerk or aide would be nice. No food options for night shift.

I worked at The Valley Health System (Nevada) part-time for more than 4 years

      Pros

You really learn here. Everything is done in the lowest tech, paper-ridden way possible.

      Cons

One of the lowest paying health systems in the Las Vegas area. My schedule was changed on a weekly basis, if one was created at all.

      Advice to Management

Put more effort into streamlining processes, instead of collecting money. Your employees would be less stressed and able to accurately complete their jobs. Including being able to collect their “quotas.” You still wouldn’t have to hire more people, but you would actually be serving patients like you advertise.

      Pros

The department has had a lot of turnover but they are going in the right direction. Love the new processes and how the team works together. Great Management they know their stuff and listen to what you have to say. The directors make daily rounds to say hi and are open to help whenever you need it.

      Cons

Long hours during month end but this is changing new staff is being brought in, processes are being changed and you could see the change coming.
