I worked at The Valley Health System (Nevada) part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You really learn here. Everything is done in the lowest tech, paper-ridden way possible.

    Cons

One of the lowest paying health systems in the Las Vegas area. My schedule was changed on a weekly basis, if one was created at all.

    Advice to Management

Put more effort into streamlining processes, instead of collecting money. Your employees would be less stressed and able to accurately complete their jobs. Including being able to collect their “quotas.” You still wouldn’t have to hire more people, but you would actually be serving patients like you advertise.

Great Management they know their stuff and listen to what you have to say. The directors make daily rounds to say hi and are open to help whenever you need it.

I have been working at The Valley Health System (Nevada) full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Competitive salary amongst other local health systems in the Las Vegas Valley. If you are LGBT you will be protected by the VHS Human Resources Director, always go to him and bypass local HR for assistance.

    Beautiful facilities.

    Cons

Upper management make horrible choices on the choice for lower management. It's not best to "fill" a vacancy if a candidate is not the right choice or have no experience. Human Resources only work for the hospitals best interest, not an employee. Employees are discriminated against and HR lets it happen.

Very secretive managers and favorites are found within the hospitals. Very "clicky" like in high school days. Very hard to trust people you work with which makes it difficult to be productive through your workday. Lots of gossip.

Most departments are short staffed very often which lead to our employee burn out.

    Advice to Management

You are losing great talent in your health system. Please help us keep people who want to be here. We need them!
