    Poor management and extreme disorganization

    Pros

The camaraderie is good between junior level employees and dancers. Lots of opportunities to see performances and network within the arts.

    Cons

Senior level management is extremely poor and the Board is far too into the weeds on day to day life at the organization. Questionable accounting and fundraising practices. Horrible organizational culture; everyone is always angry and frustrated, and there is almost zero accountability for poor performance. Almost the entire staff has turned over in the past year or so. Because salaries are low, it's hard to hire the best talent for the various positions. Not a mission driven organization; instead, mostly driven by money. The building is also falling apart, and company invests 0 into their employees.

    On the cusp

    Pros

Some very excellent collegiality between most departments. Flexibility to try out new ideas and campaigns. Excellent networking within the local performing arts industry. With the current round of executive turnover, there is an opportunity for the organization to really excel and carve out a great place for itself in the ballet/dance world. Right on the cusp of becoming a proper institution.

    Cons

Too many long-term employees who are stuck in the "mom & pop" organizational mindset. Little to no upward mobility. No investment in the infrastructure of the organization or the employees. The organization is hampered by the Board. There is very little common courtesy extended to the staff from the higher-ups, who are more often than not condescending to staff. Some of the worst, most unprofessional treatment of Senior-level Staff I've ever seen in my career.

    Pros

Respectful colleagues and right on target with my passion for dance.

    Cons

Aside from the whole "unpaid" bit, there weren't any downsides in my opinion.

    Pros

    Access to the performing arts.

    Cons

Upper Management lacks skills needed to run a company. Board of Directors is too involved in daily running of the company. Turn over is high due to low salaries and poor working environment.
