    Pros

Good Product, however very repetitive. Good discount, If lucky good team. Good training in commerciality and retail ops.

    Cons

Micro-management. cut-backs. Culture of cliques in higher management. Pressure applied all the time to do more and more. Over-dated software which keeps on failing. Impossible workload. Mail order system totally failing.

    Advice to Management

Totally change your approach to staff.

I worked at The White Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Working alongside an amazing, loyal, hard working team. Product was ok, but became so repetitive.

    Cons

Too many to list. Appalling support from area manager and HO. Very clicky within meetings and store visits. Limited training and problem solving support. Systems and mail order absolutely creaking with old age, completely archaic! There's more but I'm stopping there.

    Advice to Management

All of the above. Stop passing the buck, shoulder responsibility and be seen to offer positive support. I wouldn't even shop with TWC now I've seen behind the scenes!

I worked at The White Company full-time for less than a year

    Pros

25% discount during 3 month probation period, after that you get 50% discount. Beautiful and stylish products, high quality clothing. It's easy to fall in love with the brand and the lifestyle it represents. A varied job, not boring at all because of the size of the store and the variety of products you have to know and sell, ranging from clothing, fragrance, bed linen to furniture. Team was great and worked well... together.

    Cons

Very demanding job, for little reward. It's long days and very hard work, both physically and mentally. Involves a lot of ad hoc problem solving, dealing with customers over the phone, calling customer services regarding orders or delivery delays, calling IT for till problems. The till system is the most user unfriendly system I've ever worked with, even a simple transaction becomes very time consuming because of... the whole data capturing process. Too often too many promotions going on, which is a lot of extra work repricing and re-merchandising the store. It also makes people's VIP vouchers of 15% or 20% become meaningless. Expected to be flexible and work various shifts, from quite early (7.30am) to late openings (8.30pm). Added with an hour commute, doesn't leave much room for life outside of work.

    Advice to Management

Please make the tills user friendly. Less in-store promotions please, to put clothing at 50% sale after one month shows that the normal price is massively overpriced.
