I worked at TheraCare of New York full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked at Theracare as a special education teacher and my experience has been very positive. The best part was the support from the clinical team and office staff was pleasant to work with.

    Cons

The travel became challenging to manage.

    Advice to Management

More professional development courses and opportunity would be nice.

I worked at TheraCare of New York full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Met some amazing colleagues, with whom I continue to have positive relationships, even though we all left TheraCare.

    Cons

Children are considered cases, numbers and profits. It's gross.
They cyclical promoting someone and then firing soon thereafter mentioned in a previous review is 100% true. I can think of at least six examples during my time there.

    Advice to Management

Your responses to the Glassdoor reviews are petty and embarrassing -- for you. Your ego as an organization is like toxic masculinity at its worst. Seriously, learn something from the ABA therapists you employ and don't engage. You're engaging!!

I worked at TheraCare of New York full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Some of my coworkers were friendly.

    Cons

Management was incompetent. People were constantly getting put in new positions with absolutely no training. Within a year they would fire them and repeat the process. The software that was created for us never worked correctly. Half of the time you couldn't do your job because the computer system had problems. Raises were few and far between. Everyone was afraid of the owner and hid every problem from him instead of fixing them because they were afraid of getting fired. The majority of employees were miserable on a daily basis. You do not want to work here.

    Advice to Management

    Put training in place

I have been working at TheraCare of New York full-time

    Pros

Flexibility in coordinating session times with families, paperwork is not overwhelming at all, rewarding work where you see growth and positive change happening working with children and their families, company values employees, recognizes and acknowledges the hard work they put into helping children.

    Cons

I worked at TheraCare of New York full-time

    Pros

Four weeks vacation per year. When employees are paid poorly, how can we afford a vacation?

    Co-workers

    Cons

    - Management can use racial and ethnic slurs and keep their job.

    - Management will always go back on their word.

    - Raises are only for the ones who kiss up to management.

    - Paid is below average.

    - Will be asked to cover other people's responsibilities with zero praise.

    - Training is below average.

    - Worked through lunch and was told I needed to write I took on lunch on my timesheet.

    - I wouldn’t work there even if the pay was 3x my current salary.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate the hard workers, stop playing favoritism it is not Jr. High School.

I worked at TheraCare of New York full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

-Great coworkers, team environment, small office
-Lots of PTO that you can use in 15 minute increments
-Paid holidays and early dismissal the day before (or the Friday before) the holiday
    -Free lunch once per week

    Cons

-Raises are rare and you personally can't get a raise. The company gives out cost of living increases to everyone or no one .
-CEO is all over the place! If you don't have to deal with him directly it's not too bad.
    -Employees are underappreciated.
-Positions/ job titles change quite frequently and more work is given to you with, of course, no pay increase.

    Advice to Management

Don't try to keep within your budget the wrong way by not offering raises or other incentives for employees to stay with the company. I think most people would rather have a raise at the least once per year instead of free lunch once per week or a really expensive Christmas party. Those things are great, but not necessary if they are going to interfere with pay increases.
