I worked at Thermo Fisher Scientific full-time

    Pros

many good co-workers; nice new facility

    Cons

They do not appreciate the quality of their employees. Even in R&D, you will have difficulty finding some good scientists/managers/director who really qualify for their titles. You would think people in such a well known company would do things in a professional manner --- wrong! Super inefficient in dealing with problems and in developing new products.

    Advice to Management

don't know about other sites, but the Fremont site is managed like a factory, not like a "Scientific" company as the company name suggests.

I have been working at Thermo Fisher Scientific full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

BIG company - (Expanding very quick by leveraging huge debt. In short term view, things looked really nice, yet the pressure on financial performance is significant. Long term, we will see!)

    New building.

    Cons

There is no such thing as work-life balance. Laid off constantly, in 2017, there are two runs of laid offs (1/26/2017, 5/23/2017) before end of Q2; while hiring keeping on. Consequently very low morale and no sense of teamwork.. Employees are numbers instead of human being.

The only strategy management takes on is reaction so as to meet "the number." The environment become toxic that focuses on short term actions and cost cutting measures primarily.

Manufacturing driving mindset, yet with very old system and difficult processes.

    Advice to Management

I have been working at Thermo Fisher Scientific full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good safety record and ergonomic support, good medical benefits, good 401k plan.

    Cons

Very poor morale and communication throughout company, lots of manufacturing problems that lead to poor quality products. The basic values at this company are to make business decisions that compromise creating quality products. This has led to product recalls, an FDA citation, and problems with OEM customers.

    Advice to Management

Please solve the communication and quality problems at this site. I would like to be proud of the products I help to create.

    Pros

I am not sure if I can be say anything positive based on what I experienced working here.

    Cons

If you are a person of color and non-white, be very careful considering working at this company. There is no recourse and all the so called orientation training and employee hotline are a sham. When the time comes you are on your own

    Advice to Management

No checks and balances in place to address abuse of power.
