    Pros

Always something exciting to work on and the people are really nice to work with

    Cons

Almost always on a fire drill, the management in IT is the worst and the CIO seems to support them

    Advice to Management

Get rid of your "Yes Man" managers in IT

    Pros

Great benefits package, and the employees are amazing.

    Cons

Mandatory overtime, non mandatory overtime(guilted), and high pressure. They also pay women and men differently. If you are a woman it is hard to move into management with current site leadership. Young men are promoted over more experienced and qualified women.

    Advice to Management

Try to use more positive reinforcement. The negativity makes it harder and harder to come to work everyday. Also, don't discount women. We can be pretty amazing :)

I worked at Thermo Fisher Scientific full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

LARGE company with opportunities to move.

    Cons

HR is not involved with employees and there are some leaders that are only interested in numbers. When there is an issue with a manager, HR is nowhere to be found. I worked there for 6 years and had 5 managers. My last manager did not treat me fairly and I was out. I know of 3 other employees that ended in the same way with different managers. All in the same discipline. No warnings, no corrective actions, no good reasons. Lastly, when an employee survey from the group came back with low scores, the employees were gathered and asked to re-submit the scores. One of their core values is supposed to be integrity. They didn't ask why the scores were low and instead gathered the group and asked that we rethink our answers. That is not integrity in my book.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees, not just the managers. If a whole group is having issues, maybe it's the manager. Encourage honesty to foster improvement. Have HR act impartially so the employee has a voice. You have lost a lot of talented people because of a lack of a voice upwards.

I worked at Thermo Fisher Scientific full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Decent pay, can't say much more than this. Carlsbad office used to be a good place to work. Nice location in Carlsbad.

    Cons

Marketing department fueled on gossip and brown nosing. Medical benefits very expensive. Negative ladder climbing culture. Micro mangers run amuck but lacking true leadership.

    Advice to Management

Stop listening to gossip and get involved to form your own true opinions.

I worked at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a contractor

    Pros

It's a great position as an entry level if your intention is to put something on your resume.

    Cons

I've seen some very cliquey (why is almost everyone from UC Davis?) and immature people as supervisor and manager. Not a good environment to work.
