I worked at Thermo Fisher Scientific full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits and fair pay. Solid worldwide company that is very stable. If you have a good site to work at then job security should not be an issue.

    Cons

On site services is dependent on contracts with customers. If contract is not renewed or lost, you loose your job. Management will tend to ignore or not respond to your questions when you are on a site working alone.

    Advice to Management

Be upfront with new hires that onsite services is based on a contract and you may loose your job if contract is lost for any reason.

I have been working at Thermo Fisher Scientific (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great portfolio of products, intelligent individuals with many areas to learn in science. Good working environment and plenty of community involvement programs to reach out to others. Heavy in the area of Life Sciences for both hardware and software so learning curves can be steep for anyone new to this domain so ample continuous learning.
Executive Management has vision for growth as more acquisitions occur.
    Good benefits and matching 401k
Friendly atmosphere and great people to work with

    Cons

Hardware centric company, very limited growth in the area of software career development.
Management levels change frequently leaving little movement for internal employees.
Clean working environment but little perks compared to most silicon valley companies.
Lack of vision for long term strategies force old products to continue to live beyond their years.

    Advice to Management

Plan a vision for the next 5 years and create a plan to get there for software/hardware infrastructure changes or else it will never happen. Cross collaboration needs to be enforced through management and not left up to each individual group.

    Pros

    Lots in innovation, cool products

    Cons

Work in a silo. People are nice once you get to know them, but normally people don't branch out. Sometimes don't find out about other related projects until way too late.
