I worked at Third Federal Savings and Loan Association full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company values really played out in the work place. I loved everyone on my team and got to learn so much about the professional banking industry!

    Cons

Making minimum wage was a little underpaid and sometimes the days got slow. But I found things to do around the office!

    Advice to Management

Increase the intern wage for outstanding interns to encourage them to go back. Encourage more learning from the loan officers for those who are interested!

I have been working at Third Federal Savings and Loan Association full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Decent, if low, pay. Job security (no layoffs in 80 years), good retirement benefits, local to Cleveland. A good career place, especially for older financial professionals who want a stable place to spend their remaining years before retirement. Not as good for the younger crowd, looking to rise quickly and make some money along the way. No commissions or sales pressure on associates or customers. We do what's in the customer's best interests.

    Cons

Slow to make workflow and technology improvements, pay on the low end of the scale, too management-centric. The low-cost provider mantra is sometimes taken too seriously, especially regarding technology and workplace ergonomics.

    Advice to Management

Make sure management principles are filtering down from upper to lower tiers.

I worked at Third Federal Savings and Loan Association full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

no pressure to perform on the job as long as you show up on time. Benefits are decent.

    Cons

Unprofessional work environment. Very limited opportunities to grow or advance. Very low pay. Management frowns upon new ideas and prefers 'Yes' men/women.

    Advice to Management

Hire real bankers and treat your college grads like professionals instead of high school kids. Fun days are for kids this is the real world.

I have been working at Third Federal Savings and Loan Association full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great company and really great people. This company definitely appreciates their associates and they definitely show it with bonuses and events.

    Cons

Sometimes, it seems out are micromanaged. You only get hired if you have experience, yet when your here, you have no decision making at all and always have to go through a middle person for simple questions.

    Advice to Management

Trust the "little people" a little more. We are wasting customers time having to talk to 2-3 people for one task when we are capable of doing it ourselves

I worked at Third Federal Savings and Loan Association (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits and Employee Stock plan were very generous.

    Cons

Total disregard for individual contributions. Team focus was taken to an extreme; to the point of not recognizing high performing employees. There is a lack of accountability and immediate managers have very little authority or decision making power. All decisions are made at a much higher level. The company states they make decisions by team consensus, but that is not the case. More often than not team recommendations are ignored. Every employee is treated the same to the detriment of ones career. There is no career path and when asked about career paths management become agitated.

    Advice to Management

Live by the value system that you preach repeatedly.
