I worked at Third Federal Savings and Loan Association full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company values really played out in the work place. I loved everyone on my team and got to learn so much about the professional banking industry!

    Cons

Making minimum wage was a little underpaid and sometimes the days got slow. But I found things to do around the office!

    Advice to Management

Increase the intern wage for outstanding interns to encourage them to go back. Encourage more learning from the loan officers for those who are interested!

I have been working at Third Federal Savings and Loan Association full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Decent, if low, pay. Job security (no layoffs in 80 years), good retirement benefits, local to Cleveland. A good career place, especially for older financial professionals who want a stable place to spend their remaining years before retirement. Not as good for the younger crowd, looking to rise quickly and make some money along the way. No commissions or sales pressure on associates or customers. We do what's in the customer's best interests.

    Cons

Slow to make workflow and technology improvements, pay on the low end of the scale, too management-centric. The low-cost provider mantra is sometimes taken too seriously, especially regarding technology and workplace ergonomics.

    Advice to Management

Make sure management principles are filtering down from upper to lower tiers.

    Pros

Third federal is a wonderful and great place to work. There is room for growth and lots of career growth potential.

    Cons

I don't really have any cons. Maybe Third Federal should open more branches in more cities throughout the US. That would be great.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. You treat your employees well, and fully embrace the work culture of trust, respect and stability.

    Pros

    Friendly environment!
    Encourage promotion within
    Fun annual events
Great steady consistent job-rarely Fire or lay off ever-many people stay for years

    Cons

If your looking for advancement in career it can be hard bc most people don't leave there jobs so if your looking to move departments its competitive.
Some mangers are promoted within because of tenure but don't have manager experience and that can be challenging when needing to communicate.
Pay is decent and jobs are consistent.
    No commission for mortgages

    Advice to Management

Increase merit promotion and raise amounts for employees.
Better manger training so managers know how to communicate with there teams and employees individually.
Create more opportunities for jobs/shadowing/interning in all departments

    Pros

Continues to maintain morale through associate campaigns, random dress-down days, casual dress summers, biannual reviews and bonuses, annual salary increases, associate appreciation events and gifts, and continues to encourage value system.

    Cons

Prefer to include more formal training. Associates are more equipped to assist customers if they receive thorough and continues training.
