    Pros

    Concessions on holidays, company events such as celebrations, steady amount of work, fantastic team of people, dependable staff in times of need,

    Management not quite sure what to do with team leaders, Some team leaders have had more development than others (such as myself) and are earning more because of it.

    Advice to Management

    Give all staff a fair crack of the whip and don't look down on those at the entry level jobs as beneath you. If it wasn't for them, you wouldn't look good to your boss!

    Pros

    Good way to see parts of the world, however a very inflexible company when attempting to organise a sideways move.

    Cons

    The resort management can be very settled in their way, and reluctant to adapt to new ideas, or even to change their location possibly due to their recieving little sweetners from suppliers

    Advice to Management

    Employ your staff at a junior level on full time year round contracts, after their first or second contract to ensure retention of good staff

    Pros

    If you are working as a contractor, you can make good money. The office ambiance and location are great.

    Cons

    The place is totally unstructured with no process in place. Some people have been made managers, leaders without them having people management skills. If you are in IT, it's a big step going backwards as they don't keep up with technology (what else you can expect from a travel company)

    Put some process, guidelines in place.

    - welcome new ideas
    -good performers are given recognition
    -growth and career plans are great

    Cons

    -inflated CTC and what you get in hand is nothing compared to whats on paper
    -unfair appraisal system where everything depends on the "bell curve" and normalization happens after your round of appraisal and it is changed without your consent
    -they keep crying about rationalizing costs but senior management seem to be splurging like its the end of the world

    Advice to Management

    be transparent and stop making false promises

    Pros

    Some of the people are great to work alongside. I can't really think of that many more....

    Cons

    Red-Tape. On everything from currency ordering to discount levels. The "Retail Transformation" saga. Feeling disjointed from management team.

    Advice to Management

    Stop. Just stop everything and realise that you have a legacy workforce from Thomas Cook working alongside people from Going Places and the Co-operative Travel. Use the best of all 3 brands, rather than trying to assimilate everyone into the same robot. Get rid of Cluster Managers where they are not needed or struggling (ours is shocking) and get full-time store managers back that actually have the ability to manage their time to do all the mind-numbing stuff at the times that the "DILO" says they should be done. That's just to be going on with, get back to me when you have a plan....

    please improve salaries and prune oldies based on work efficiencies rather than office politics

    I have been working at Thomas Cook full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Some decent colleagues even though we are now fighting more over bookings. You learn something new everyday in the travel industry.

    Cons

    Minimum wage and bad cluster managers who have no time in their schedule to care about staff and their problems as they have too much hassle from higher up themselves. Our cluster is now on a third of the staff as this time last year and they expect us to do more which is impossible and standards are slipping as we get customers through the door on a conveyor belt system. Aside from that BAD technology. Yes you heard that Harriet. No one likes the res systems except your yes men. Too much information for staff to learn on a daily basis including changing policies and old out of date information everywhere. Promises not honoured and you are asked to be abnormally flexible with your working hours and holidays. Rotas drawn up in India plus a hr team there.... Does that help? No.

    Manager at the time was awful, belittled people and divulged supposedly confidential discussions

    Trust your grass roots staff; you hired them to do a job; let them do it.
