I have been working at Thomas Nelson Community College part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I love working at Thomas Nelson mostly because of the people - all of my colleagues are nice, helpful, genuine people. As an adjunct, I get a communal office and the atmosphere is usually very relaxed and quiet. The students are mostly respectful.

    Cons

While the people I directly work with are usually very accommodating and helpful, sometimes the upper management can be a little slow getting back to you or the responses you receive do not seem genuine.

    Pros

Dedicated faculty. Great students. Lots to do in the area.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Thomas Nelson Community College part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Small college, nice to work with students one-on-one and see them grow

    Cons

All changes come last minute. Classes are set up months before they are offered and after they are doled out to adjuncts, the adjuncts are pulled into other areas with no thought of our schedules. Too many interims to get a focus. Interims are not familiar with all curricula and make no effort to learn. Numbers oriented.

    Advice to Management

Dictators are not the answer. Try and see what people are doing for the students before you go and make changes.
