    Pros

    Not many pro's -

Thats all for now - not room for much

    Cons

Leadership doesn't really lead or manage - expectations are to be understood almost by magic and mind reading tricks for what they want you to do (at all positions it seems) seemed like this across company
No encouragement of bettering self outside company offered courses
bit of a good old boys club

I have been working at Thomas & Betts full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Laid back atmosphere with nice people.

    Cons

Constant change, zero leadership and direction. They don't replace people who leave so they spread job responsibilities all over the place. People are spread way too thin.

People are constantly being let go without warning. Its like being on a sinking ship.

    Advice to Management

Don't lie to employees about their job security. You are creating an atmosphere of distrust.

    I worked at Thomas & Betts full-time

    Pros

The job has potential with good floor employees that care about their workmanship on the senior shifts. There is a large breath of value streams that will allow the expansion of skill set and problem solving. . The intensity of the pace in manufacturing utilities and the liability makes ownership a must; driving continuous improvement.

    Cons

The leadership team is dysfunctional without substantial break through in process improvement that translates into impacting safety issues, poor morale of floor line operators, and poor performance. The HR team is hot bed of gossip and backstabbing that promotes mistrust and inconsistent policy enforcement. Tenor management tends to camouflage their lack of ability by creating fires in other departments. They sell 100% electrically tested equipment with a potentially flawed testing methods. This is a place that tends to lean to shorten one's interest or ability to want to be part of the organization.

    Advice to Management

It's time to clear them out and start over or move the plant

    Pros

Culture is changing after being purchased by ABB. Company has knowledgeable managers who carry the company.

    Cons

There are managers who hide. ABB implements improvements and provides funding while they focus on cost cutting instead of improvements.

    Advice to Management

Encourage feedback and use it to improve behavior. Start a management mentoring pipeline to groom the managers the company needs.

I worked at Thomas & Betts full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice building; on-site cafe. Decent pay + benefits.

    Cons

Major Management issues. Greatly depends on the department. "clicks" and favorites were the NORM. Worked there over a year and never could get a proper employee ID from Manager. Manager would speak to some employees and ignore others. Office equipment and cubicles were very outdated. Difficult to schedule and use avail PTO. T & B is known for excessive turnover and layoffs. Z E R O job security. Miserable and hostile work environment.

    Advice to Management

Senior Management should be more involved in what middle Management is doing. Increase employee morale. Conducting unannounced layoffs on Christmas Eve... bad business.

    Pros

Good hours and benefits, the people I worked with were great. I love my job in the bolt house.

    Cons

I was harassed by the company buyer on a daily basis from the day I started til the day I left. I went to upper management, called HR in Tennessee and no one would do anything. The new company should really look at the whole picture and get rid of the head honchos and bring their own. I truly hope there are some major changes made for the sake of the hourly employees that are left there.

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes and listen for a change and really see what is going on right in front of you.
