I worked at Thompson Coburn full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Compensation is competitive with the market

    Cons

Management is focused on Attorneys and not staff

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and not just the attorneys. Without the employees the attorneys would have to do everything, work on keeping moral up.

    Advice to Management

    "Attorney"

    I worked at Thompson Coburn

    Pros

Solid legal experience, quality of legal work is very good.

    Cons

Women are not given same opportunities as men, men are ones chosen to make pitches to clients, excluding women, male partners are routinely chosen to lead teams, not women. Tomen number of women in leadership positions, women rarely assigned to committees other than associate and women committees. Diversity is not important except on paper. There are favored attorneys that get most opportunities, if you aren't one... of these you will have a difficult time succeeding.

    Advice to Management

Make a commitment to truly make diversity a priority, not just something that looks good on paper. Recognize you have an inherent bias towards certain attorneys.

I worked at Thompson Coburn full-time for more than a year

    Pros

At the end of the day, you will make friends through venting frustrations that are acquired if you take a position here.

    Cons

List is too great for the small box given here. Thompson Coburn values it's clients and image above all else but could seriously benefit from hearing the needs of employees and not dismissing them unless they're part of the partnership.

    Advice to Management

Management could really use an ear to the ground for how things run outside of the St. Louis office and could value employees at a much greater level.

I worked at Thompson Coburn full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Some Friendly People, Decent Salaries, and Average Work Life Balance

    Cons

Poor Management All Around, Complete Lack of Vision, and a Lousy Treatment of Staffers and Temps. I saw A LOT of people leave for the year plus that I was there...

    Advice to Management

Pull your collective heads out of your backsides, start treating your staff much better, and do something to retain hard working talent with raises and bonuses - Don't just staff your entire office with disposable temps!!!

I worked at Thompson Coburn full-time

    Pros

    Good location. Stable company

    Cons

Management micro manages. Employees really don't have anyone to go to if there is an issue to get it resolved.
