I have been working at Thompson Hine full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Generally firm management is very supportive, bureaucracy is low-key. Struggles are due to industry pressures, not internal issues.

    Cons

Upper level attorneys are hit-or-miss as far as collaborating with younger attorneys.

I worked at Thompson Hine full-time

    Pros

The working environment and management style is extremely laid back. You are able to bring your expertise to the table and it be utilized. The people are very kind and approachable. The salary is top notch for paralegals and secretaries if you negotiate it on the front end. Overtime is NOT encouraged unless on a case by case basis. The location is ideal for Buckhead as it is directly off of 400. And the best PRO of all is PARKING IS FREE for staff members.

    Cons

No bonuses for staff members. They do give a Christmas gift of $500 (but it is taxed) so if you are in the 401(k), in the HSA, have an IRA, along with your regular taxes, you may get to spend about $166.00. The firm gets the $500 gift writeoff and you get taxed for the entire amount but only get a small portion. The traffic is horrible. Litigation secretaries are expected to support 4 sometimes 5 partners and associates. No real structure among the secretarial staff.

    Advice to Management

Get someone with the expertise to be a coordinator for the secretarial staff. Any and everyone is expected to take charge and not be compensated for their expertise and training. The firm should stop being so cheap and either hire a trainer for the Atlanta office of hire a secretarial coordinator.
