I worked at Thompson Hotels part-time

    Pros

Can be great money and beautiful properties.

    Cons

working under management was a nightmare

    Advice to Management

Manage better: recognize and praise strengths as well--and hopefully more than-- seeing fault. We were hired for a reason. Being competitive with those you manage is disgusting.

    HR Team
    Shift Meals
    Smoke Room
    Parking
Laundered your clothes or provided uniforms (depends on the position)
    Located in a remarkable location

    Cons

    High Manager and Employee Turnover
They do not train their people. On boarding is a bismal.
    Always understaffed.
Not the best talent pool in regards to commitment to the industry.
    Lack of communication.
Bullying type management styles in the higher levels.
    Inconsistent Managers and policies.
    Toxic Workplace/Envinronment
The current Hotel GM is inauthentic. One day he smiles at you the next day he acts like he doesnt even see you.
    Unprofessional.

    Advice to Management

I really hope all the changes made will bring you some success. You would think you are running for Forbes Top 100. Ya better get there.

I worked at Thompson Hotels part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They had a nice space, I am not sure there was much concern over customer satisfation, they overbooked and frequently customers would become irate. Then they would come drink at the bar.

    Cons

Management was a mess, they had no idea what they were doing. They had little concern over employee welfare or concern with employee satisfaction. There was no team building and overtly sexist.

    Advice to Management

    Try harder!

I have been working at Thompson Hotels full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Fun environment
    - Great commission
    - Awesome coworkers

    Cons

    - Undelivered promises
    - Cronyism
    - Low hourly wage compared to industry average
    - Poor management

    Advice to Management

Review your corporate values you preach and actually execute them not just to hotel guests but as well to the staff.

If the staff is happy the guests will be happy. Management tends to forget how guest satisfaction is dependent on employee satisfaction.

I worked at Thompson Hotels full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The luxury of working for a botique brand is you are able to affect change. Senior leadership is very accessible- truly an open door policy.

    Cons

The company is still young and in growth mode. Stronger SOP's would make the sales team more successful.

    Advice to Management

Since I have left there has been more structure put in place which is a wonderful thing. My suggestion is to keep on this path.
