I have been working at Thorntons (UK) part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Great team family values

    Cons

Expected to work after time and not be paid when cashing up long hours . Being left to work all lates when management works all early shifts added pressure of mounting work and paperwork expected to be done at night along with everything else . Sometimes you can be there working an extra 30 - 40 minutes after your time and not paid for it . Lack of communication with new management team . Being left to train new... starts .

    Advice to Management

All staff should be treated equally . All staff including management should share the long hours including early and late shifts and weekends . Management should take responsibility for training new staff communication is key to running a successful and happy team

I worked at Thorntons (UK) full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Great teams best ever.

    Cons

    No loyalty from senor managment

    Advice to Management

Be aware of the fact that you are lossing very experienced mangers and assistant managers because of the unrealistic pressure emposed on them from your new area managers, who most have never done a working day behind the counter in a store. They are mainly just keyboard warriors and are in it for their own careers and CVs no loyalty there.

I worked at Thorntons (UK) part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Salary good for someone under 21. Increases with loyalty to the company, same with time off. As with most places the enjoyment of the job depends on the team you are working with. Added bonus of any reject chocolates.

    Cons

Constant new strategies from HQ for selling. Half the time you'd go in one week and you'd be told off for doing what you were told to do the week before because they've changed tactics. Ancient tills always seemed to play up when you have a massive queue. There is also no room to ice. ALSO PAINFULLY BAD MUSIC ON REPEAT.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the lower down sales assistants and don't just take what key holders say as gospel as I sometimes felt bossed around by them while they did nothing. PAY LOYALTIES FOR REAL MUSIC THORNTONS RADIO DRIVES ME MAD.
