I have been working at ThoughtSpot full-time for more than a year

    Pros

ThoughtSpot is by far the best company I have worked for in my career. Why? 1) People: people are incredibly smart and yet super approachable and willing to go out of their way to teach you new skills. It is a great place for engineers to grow and learn. 2) Ownership: you can shape the direction of the product. At ThoughtSpot, if you have a good idea for a feature and can back it with data, your feature will get on the roadmap. I am amazed to see that ideas brought by engineers 1-2 years out of college make their way to the final product. 3) Selfless excellence: at ThoughtSpot, we strive for a culture of selfless excellence. It means: be excellent at your job, without the politics. From my experience, ThoughtSpot has zero politics. No one is competing with anyone else; we all feel part of one big winning team. 4) Product: our innovation is really mind-blowing. We are working on one of the hardest AI problems: how to take human questions and translate them to code and return an answer in less than 200 milliseconds. This requires innovation in: high speed distributed systems, state of the art NLP, beautiful visualization. Our technical stack goes very deep. 5) Customers: our customers love us, as evidenced by the daily feedback we collect. It is very satisfying as an engineer to see how the features we release empower employees in the the most influential companies in the world. 6) Leadership: want to grab lunch with the CEO? Discuss a technical problem with the CTO? Even though they are super busy (they truly are...) and are managing hundreds of people, they always make themselves extremely accessible.

    Cons

This is a company for highly motivated employees. You are expected to be resourceful and proactive. You won't find a lot of micromanagement.

    Pros

There's a lot of interesting work underway. The environment gives a lot of autonomy in choosing what to work on.

    Cons

Like the office space in headquarters though it's a bit spread out.

I have been working at ThoughtSpot full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - Selfless excellence is real. People here are genuine, and are always willing to help. - Work life balance is good on most days; there are days when things get hectic - like any other startup in the valley. - Benefits are A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. Except 401K matching, Thoughtspot Benefits pretty much trump that of all other companies in the area. - Product is unmatched by a long shot! Customers are excited about what TS has to offer and there's enough buzz going around. Its an amazing feeling, as an engineer, to contribute towards a product and architecture that is implemented well and is robust. - Company culture focuses on giving you space to learn and grow while doing your job. This place is filled with so many smart(_really_) engineers, and all of them are willing to share their knowledge with you whenever they can, to help you do your job better. - C level executives/founders are all winners in their own right and have had exceptional careers. There's a lot of lessons to learn from these guys about structuring your own career path. - Bro culture? I read about on Glassdoor before I joined the company, and so far I haven't seen much of this. Maybe this was existent in the past, but the culture here feels pretty inclusive so far.

    Cons

    - Diversity has been a pain point for the company, but in the short while that I have been working here, I have already seen many steps being taken to improve this. In general hiring diverse people in the valley is difficult, and TS is doing its best to combat this.

I have been working at ThoughtSpot full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - ThoughtSpot's core culture is built on the values of "selfless excellence", i.e. not just do excellent work and continuously raise the bar but also be selfless in doing so. There is zero tolerance for company politics and focus is truly on the impact one brings to the company. - I feel that I am doing the best work of my life and pushing the envelope in innovation in a space that has seen very little of that in past decade or so. I am being able to utilize my Computer Science depth and breadth and working on lot of fun and innovative problems. - Company is run by a visionary CEO and one of the best CTO I have had pleasure working with. No idea is considered small and information flow is very open. Slack channels are used for information flow with zero filtering and hence any news good/bad is known to everyone so that we are all on the same page on company roadmap, priorities and challenges. This is extremely empowering. - Engineering depth is enviable and I feel like I am learning a ton from the experts in almost all areas of Computer Science! - Company has the best health care options possible with ZERO cost to employee!

    Cons

    - Ethnic/Gender diversity in the company in engineering needs a lot of improvement. Having said that company is very committed to making that happen and I am seeing the positive outcomes already! - Company recently moved to catering lunches from Eatclub+Farmhill to GrubHub. Sadly GrubHub doesn't have much healthy choices and hence needs to change real soon.
