I have been working at ThyssenKrupp Materials full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Opportunity for learning new skills. Abundance of work. Opportunity to work within a global company. Good people to work with personally.

    Cons

Management professionalism and organization lacking. Lack of local management control. Lack of career opportunity within the company, very flat organization structure.

    Advice to Management

Organize and develop the professional side of your employees. Without helping to develop your professionals, they will not remain committed and you will continue to lose your most valuable talent. Be respectful of the people committed to the business, it's not a one-way street.

I have been working at ThyssenKrupp Materials full-time

    Pros

The people are generally very positive and very helpful. Though not everyone loves one another, there is generally a team atmosphere with people willing to help out.

    Cons

Changing priorities and direction constantly, conflict between corporate and regional direction, consistently pulled in different directions, often work that was performed over years and months is thrown out completely when management decides to move in a new direction, a lot of micro management, very little stability, often a lack in clarity in what you should be doing

    Advice to Management

Stop changing directions, create business plans with cost and benefit analysis and share them, allow employees to own their position and responsibilities, when projects / plans change and hard work is thrown out, at least acknowledge the work and go through a presentation on all the positive outcomes of the project to make employees feel like they are not wasting their time

I have been working at ThyssenKrupp Materials full-time

    Pros

The hours are good and there is a good chance to make decent money. They usually have lots of overtime and incentive payout for production.

    Cons

There is not much room for advancement, they do not like to hire within. it is easy to feel like you are going nowhere with the company, because you probably won't. it is a very political company and all that matters is who you know and who is related to who.

    Advice to Management

Boost morale more often. The company doesn't do anything for the employees to show appreciation. Every now and then they will buy you a quiznos sub. woo hoo.
