I have been working at Tiffany & Co. full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Beautiful stores Decent training Benefits are decent

    Cons

Insultingly low commissions High pressure environment Extremely rigid and corporate Highly metrics driven Declining brand value/exclusivity No clothing allowance Terrible work life balance Little to no internal promotion

    Advice to Management

I don’t think they care but stop reducing your salespeople to a list of metrics. This brand used to be the stuff of dreams and now is just another retail sweatshop

I have been working at Tiffany & Co. full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Great history. Good product, and craftsmanship that one can be proud of.

    Cons

Very political. Very much like high school with cliques which likely dictate your success. Mid level management is weak and displays favoritism in most cases. Commission structure is punitive and encourages divisiveness within team. Also there is an elitist mentality where people “with money” are treated with higher regard. Whether client or employee.

    Advice to Management

Get to know the teams at every level. Do not just listen by chain of command. If managers show favoritism and only speak of a few people, there is not equal opportunity.

I have been working at Tiffany & Co. full-time for more than a year

    Pros

There are none - literally none. Benefits are standard Pay is below average for luxury Discount is not great considering the merchandise price Commission structure is completely unscrupulous and only benefits lifers Management is catty and backstabbing Dress code is that of a Wall Street banker in the 90’s

    Cons

This company is the most vile and unethical place I have ever had the misfortune of working. The favoritism and politics that plague this company far surpasses anything I have ever seen in retail. From top down, rather than doing the right thing they cover up and hide the truth to benefit themselves. This brand is supposed to be about relationships. Cultivating a lifetime of special moments And milestones with the... customers. They are so far from understanding what that means or looks like. They encourage their employees to shake people down to spend their money buying them off with elaborate galas and event tickets. They pit employees against one another under the guise of “healthy competition.” And do nothing to manage poor behavior if the individual is producing money.

    Advice to Management

Open your eyes and your ears - get out into the stores and see what is happening. Talk to your employees and stop putting band-aids on everything. The unethical practices that go on daily go unheard by your regional senior teams, they are so intimidated by their leaders the Market Vice Presidents that they will not or can not do the right thing. They look for scapegoats to cover their own job security.
