I worked at Tim Hortons part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Free coffee and paid breaks

    Cons

Poor training techniques, lots of gossip, employees talk about customers and coworkers, I worked 2 days with no experience and they was frustrated with me because i did not know how to make all the drinks by myself.

    Advice to Management

Had one day hands on training the 2nd day had me mop and sweep, watch drive thru, did computer videos then one hour of hands on training with coffee the 3rd day other workers was upset with me because i still did not know what I was doing, you guys need to find better techniques for training, I quit my 3rd day. Was very frustrated.

I have been working at Tim Hortons part-time

    Pros

Pays $1.75 higher than minimum wage
    30 minute lunch break
    Weekly pay

    Cons

Several people working in a roughly 24 foot by 4 foot area. You're going to get burned, slip, fall, bump into someone.
First paycheck is not held but still doesn't come in on Friday.
When training, in your first week of work, you may be expected to work 12 hour shifts and work six days in a row.
    Mandatory not paid break.
Training could be a lot better considering the vast majority of tasks required.
You may be assigned to cash register but you'll also be required to run drinks, take money at the window, and make sandwiches.
My break was scheduled for 4 hours into the shift but I got it at the literal end of my shift.
I noticed someone said free food after several hours but this is not the case. At mine we get a small discount on in store baked goods during lunch break only and you absolutely can not take it home. It must be discarded immediately after break.

    Advice to Management

Consider employee safety a bit better.
    Offer better training.
During training please don't schedule a six/seven day straight week with 12 hour shift during training.

I worked at Tim Hortons part-time

    Pros

Free drinks, and no one cares if you steal food while working. (Only unless you're the boss)
    Manageable hours.
    Paid training.

    Cons

Low pay, fast-paced, rude customers, violations of basic health factors for hospitality. Someone found a used condom in the boss's office.

    Advice to Management

Learn to stop being rude to customers and giving attitude. You want a better position to be respected instead of this place? Get a degree.

I worked at Tim Hortons full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great friendship made and discounts on food.

    Cons

It's like high school all over again. The amount of drama that run through that place...manager got pissy because she was not included in her staffs "group," she always had her weekends off while making others work every weekend unless confronted about it, did not work with her team and often sat in the office while her employee ran around like chickens with their heads cut off, and the night shift was always understaffed.

    Advice to Management

Realize that not everyone is going to want to be friends with you and maybe start putting your emplyees first instead of being so inconsiderate. Things would also have been a lot better if the manager was approachable.

I worked at Tim Hortons full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The hours. The store closed at 5 and you were done by 6 at the latest.

    Cons

Owner and management sets the tone for store if bad manager and owner lets him do what he wants the store is a hostile work place.

    Advice to Management

Don't cuss your employees. Don't put your hands on them. Be a grown up and don't play favorites. Fly off the handle etc...

I worked at Tim Hortons (More than a year)

    Pros

As a supervisor, you get free food.

    Cons

The manager was horrible. No matter how great the store looked, he would find something to complain about. He once yelled at me because my black restaurant shoes had some details on them that weren't black. He treats all employees like absolute dirt. You barely make more as a supervisor than those you are supervising, the only real difference (other than free food) is that the manager doesn't waste his time yelling at anyone except the supervisors.

Prepare to deal with rude and condescending customers.

    Advice to Management

Get a job where you don't have to interact with people, because you lack basic human empathy and understanding.
