I worked at Time Warner Cable full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The Pros were the great teammates and food that was constantly served.

    Cons

The retention department was nothing more than a glorified sales department. Agents pushed customers around back and forth until the customer got upset and threatened to disconnect then you would have to take the major hit to keep the customer. The stress of just not being the one caught in the "hot potato" game of saving a customer from disconnecting was stressful.

    Advice to Management

Stop lying and name the department sales

I worked at Time Warner Cable (Less than a year)

    Pros

The pay and benefits are awesome. Promotion time (they say) are within 6 months of employment. They have lots of employee appreciation perks. Got a long with coworkers.

    Cons

The department I worked in, we had to know all the systems and assist sales agents. The training for the department was long but most of what you learn I feel doesn't help you do the job. I had issues getting help when needed from certain leads. The job itself was very stressful. It was impossible to find anything in the reference guide.

    Advice to Management

Need more structured training. Reference guide needs to be simplified.

I worked at Time Warner Cable (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The money was great. Hourly stinks commission is good. The metrics change to frequently to keep a positive rhythm month to month.

    Cons

No synergy will other departments. Retention has extra strict standards but other dept lie to customers and retention agents have to correct the accounts.

    Advice to Management

Make every department stick to the same standards as retention agents

I worked at Time Warner Cable full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits pay is pretty good as well but too many changes without giving employees proper notice

    Cons

If someone doesn't like you and they have a little power, they can get you fired for no reason at all

I have been working at Time Warner Cable full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The commission structure is the best thing about the job. I try to stay under the radar so I don't get fired though.

    Cons

Your commission is based off of how little of a discount you give to a customer. Which in so many words pushes the customers to the competition. On top of that you can actually lose your commission if you fail QA. So if you're treating your customer like human beings and listen to them tell you what they want and need, you won't really get a good commission.

    Advice to Management

Stop letting ever department transfer calls to the retention (customer solutions) department because 60% of the calls that come to us aren't retention appropriate calls.
