    Pros

Great company to work for. Flexible hours and great management.

    Cons

Too many entities are lumped together so if one area is doing great and the rest are poorly they are all combined which makes it look like they all are suffering when that is not the case.

    Advice to Management

More separation so those areas that are doing poorly get focused on more and make them have some accountability for why they are suffering.

I have been working at Timken full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexibility to work from home if needed, depends on manager, not all departs are allowed

    Cons

They haven't promoted anyone in my department on 5 years! Other people retire or quit and they don't replace them and we inherit their workload. That has happend for the past 5 years, and haven't been given raises for the added workload, which is a insane amount, or the promotions for doing the work of people that were at a higher level than you in the department.

    Advice to Management

Promote your people who work hard so you don't lose them!

    I worked at Timken full-time

    Pros

    Coworkers are very talented individuals.
    Immediate supervisors are competent.
    Lots of interesting work.

    Cons

Upper management is on a cost reduction spree and that means first your backup, then your position.
Every time someone leaves they don't replace that person, so that means more work and stress for everyone. A single person can only plug so many holes in a ship...

    Advice to Management

You can't grow sales and improve the corporate quality by sacking positions everywhere. Most of the remaining employees are already overworked. If it continues, quality will continue to slide and result in even more loss of revenue.

    Pros

Large manufacturing company, many opportunities from research to supply chain

    Cons

Pressure to expand (inorganic growth) rather than develop. Frequent turnover in management.

    Advice to Management

Back off on the justification of research for the business units (weekly reporting, monthly updates, or at least review the reports and respond to issues that are reported).

I worked at Timken full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    You can call yourself employed.

    Cons

Impossible to take vacation when you would like to, especialy around holidays and at close of quarters. You get a paycheck that is difficult to decipher and you play hell trying to get your money if there is a mistake in Timken's favor (underpayment) - they (I say "they" because there is no HR department) will tell you all about the language barrier due to payroll being outsourced to somewhere in India. However, if they make an error in your favor (overpayment), they have no problem fixing that very quickly! All in all I'm just glad to be going to a company that has payroll in this country and an HR DEPARTMENT ONSITE!

    Advice to Management

Stop making it so obvious that you don't really give a damn about the employees. Without them, you wouldn't have a job either.
