    Pros

As an intern I was given a lot of project responsibility. I got to work on something that mattered and was used by the rest of the time and I even got to see it implemented before I left. The people who worked there were very friendly. I also got a decent amount of networking as my manager actually scheduled me to meet with various members of the company.

    Cons

Employees were underpaid and some full-timers were clearly overworked. The overall culture could kinda get stale too as everyone was pretty much trapped in their own cubicles. I was not located at HQ though so it may be different there.

    Advice to Management

Revamp the atmosphere, make the job one that employees want to go to.

I worked at Timken full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Job security is a plus. as long as you're hired on full time and your attendance is decent, you won't lose your job.

    Cons

management is apathetic at best, nepotist at worst. they only enforce rules and expect work from good employees and fail to compensate good performers

    Advice to Management

pay people better, do a better job of sussing out and punishing bad employees. try to encourage good work.

I worked at Timken (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Met some great co-workers who really knew their jobs.

    Cons

Met some horrible co-workers who were allowed to talk to other associates anyway they felt because they were Management favorites. Deplorable Management across the board!

    Advice to Management

Walk the floor and don't just sit in the front office looking at numbers, actually go out on the floor and see what it takes to do the different jobs that you have set production standards for

    Pros

Local company with reasonable work hours.

    Cons

    Where to begin...

    - Salary is lower than comparable roles within area.
    - Insignificant pay raises (we did not receive any last year).
    - Insignificant bonuses (less than 30% of what we should have received).
    - Little opportunity to advancement.
    - Ultra-conservative (it is frowned upon to leave your desk to take a break - literally had a manager tell me that no where in the hand book does it state you are entitled to a 15 minute break to stretch your legs).
    - High turnover - the best and brightest tend to leave within a few years. Only older folks close to retirement seem to stay.

    Pros

Great employee empowerment, excellent ethics and integrity. Provides good career progression for hard working individuals with strong work ethic.

    Cons

As with any big organization, visibility and upward mobility is limited by the number of opportunities that an individual gets exposed to.

I worked at Timken (Less than a year)

    Pros

-Good pay, especially for such a cheap area to live (17-21/hr, depending on class year)
-Incredibly honest and transparent people. Timken takes integrity and ethics very seriously.
-Beautiful office environment. Good/cheap food available in cafeteria.

    Cons

-Only major con is being in such a boring location. Timken is a GREAT place to work, but Ohio just isn't too interesting.
