    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Tires Plus full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

decent pay and laid back work enviroment

    Cons

corporate cares more about bottom line and company image than employees. they also keep making changes to equipment and consumables in the name of cost. managers are grossly overpaid work half days and sit around barking orders.

    Advice to Management

you can't keep taking equipment away and expect us to do more service! you have to spend money to make it!

I have been working at Tires Plus

    Pros

Benefits are pretty good. Not much taken out of your paycheck every week.

    Cons

No appreciation for your family life. Work you to the bone. Open long hours, even longer hours around holidays. Open almost all holidays. Pays more attention to the customers than their own employees.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees more. Make it so they can have a better balance of work/family. Not work your managers so hard, and give them the support they need.

I have been working at Tires Plus for more than a year

    Pros

It is a large, prestigious corporation (Bridgestone). But the shop operates like a small business. Very friendly and family vibe within the shop. There are no night or overnight shifts. Store hours vary, I'd imagine. But you will make it to dinner. Benefits are competitive. Good learning environment. They pay for your ASE tests, and you'll receive a bonus for passing them and re-certifying.

    Cons

Summer heat can be brutal. Exposure to chemicals, hot oil, dust, debris (comes with the territory). Some shops are just a plain mess! This trade relies heavily on commission. The worst part is that you don't get commission on any warranty work even if it was someone else's work (even from another location!). You also don't get commission on any of the lifetime services either (alignments, wheel balance, etc.)....

    Advice to Management

Revise the commission system. And make the pay scale more clear cut. Technician pay vary wildly. You advertise you want to employ the best, yet you can't retain the best.

"Great place to make money, if you have skills and the drive to work hard. WHEN IT'S BUSY. Other than that... Nothing else is good about working for this company."

I worked at Tires Plus full-time for less than a year

    Pros

$12 hourly @ 42 hours a week 11.3% commission on total dollars billed. ASE's Paid. Good deals on Tires. On a busy week. Working only 5 days, I can easily bill $10,000 worth of work. In commission dollars for me that's about $1000 in commission in one week plus my hourly pay of $650. It's possible to make this on a regular basis, if you are a skilled tech like myself. I had this job exactly two months before...

    Cons

Doing other people's come backs for free . Having to pay $30 per hour to work on your car. Pay weekly for uniform washes. Having to do work on other employees cars at the discounted rate, and making commission on almost nothing. Always having to wear safety glasses. Dirty shop. Lack of communication. Low hourly rates. Someone has double wheel torque, and oil change steps and sign off on...

    Advice to Management

Give the Technicians the respect they deserve. Competitive hourly rate for slow times. Work on your or your family's car for free. Allow parts to be purchased at cost. Allow a parts tab for employees. Pay for uniform washes. Make commission fair for discounted work. Let go of the people who don't want to work. (there are many people that pick and choose work) I've seen it first hand everyday...
