I have been working at Toast Inc full-time

    Pros

    - Awesome people and staff - Motivating - Flexible schedule - Part-time/full-time options - Great pay & benefit options - Spectacular product

    Cons

    - Disorganized (improving as time goes on) - Lack of unity and flow between departments - SLOW at making decisions and getting things done. (hiring process especially) - Apparent confusion from management about their role and expectations

    Advice to Management

Keep it up! Toast is getting better and better as more structure is outlined and people are given clear duties along with their role.

I worked at Toast Inc full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The people at Toast are great! Not a bad apple in the bunch! It was fun interacting with them on a daily basis.

    Cons

The work is VERY stressful, especially in Support. There was a LOT of turnover. Also, there didn't seem to be an interest from management to make a better product. Rather, the focus seemed to be on "going public," which means making a product just good enough to sell, but not spending a lot of effort making it better. Sales were more important.

    Advice to Management

The advantage Toast had was its cheapness. Once (if) Toast becomes a major player in the POS market, it will have to shift from sales to quality. Support is a big part of that. Better invest in it now, than suffer the repercussions later.

"Restaurant app based company with no one from restaurants LOL"

I have been working at Toast Inc full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Start-up positive attitudes Decent work environment Work hard play hard mentality

    Cons

There is a good amount of useless fat in this company. It seems like everyone they’ve hired in the past six months has never even worked a day in the restaurant industry. So they’re genuine understanding of how restaurants run is nonexistent. I’ve dealt with my fair share of confused and frustrated customers via helping other coworkers. I’ve talked to some remote Success people and they’re clueless. It’s almost... embarrassing as a team member that’s worked in the restaurant industry for a few years.

    Advice to Management

Hire some good restaurant leaders and people that have a genuine understanding of customer service from the other side of things. Fresh out of college kids are the worst for this type of startup.
