I have been working at Toll Brothers part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Sales, construction and project manager all are wonderful! Everyone is like family.

    Cons

Low pay, no insurance. No sales assistant can't work more than 29 hours (recent change), plus low pay and no benefits. They expect you to work for lower than average pay, work holidays, weekends and help sell 800k homes and be paid a fast food wage. If you need this job to live, you're better off working at Starbucks...

    Advice to Management

Value the good people you have working for you before they find somewhere that will.

I have been working at Toll Brothers full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you have the right type of position, the benefits are wonderful. Vacation houses throughout the country for you to rent for the week, stock options, contests for big payoff (company trips), etc. Builds a great product and most of the staff honestly cares about their buyers, and touches base with them frequently after closing.

    Cons

If you are not in one of those nice positions I've referred to, you aren't recognized. It's unfortunate when you consider most of those people have had careers in sales, management, education, and more, but because they are lower in the chain than sales managers and corporate level workers, no one values their opinions. This company is painfully slow to promote. There seems to be a disconnect between corporate level not in the field, and those of us who work every weekend and most holidays. They pretend to know what that is like, what is current in design, etc but in reality, they've lost touch just a little. The PAPERWORK and the PROCESS involved in writing a contract is NUTS! Also, even just one FULL weekend off per QUARTER would be a blessing. We have many black-out periods for vacation.

    Advice to Management

Don't overwork your employees. Don't expect us to churn out contract after contract when the process is way too long for that. Practice what you preach in regards to telling us you believe in a healthy work/family balance. Don't expect us to work from home on our days off. Don't be so slow to promote. Your people are capable, they are trained, but then you don't seem to have faith in their abilities, so you don't promote within.

I have been working at Toll Brothers full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company has amazing benefits and a relaxed atmosphere in the office. They are constantly growing at a successful rate which makes it exciting to be a part of.

    Cons

You're a little fish in a big pond. Definitely show signs of large corporate greed. Are constantly losing the younger generation because of limited growth opportunities and lower than average pay.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on the younger generation to grow into the company rather than those who have been here 10+ years

I have been working at Toll Brothers full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Vacation houses are awesome to use. Benefits include discounted stock shares and health/life insurance. The amount of vacation days go up after you've been there for five years.

    Cons

Trying to take a vacation or just simply a day off during "peak" periods is difficult. No work/home balance. Expect to work every weekend and only take vacations in the summer. Pay is not good. Other new home builders have better pay rates and bonuses. There is a big disconnect between upper management and sales people. The company seems to have no clue what is going on in the market and what trends are hot. They are very slow to make change and very cheap.

    Pros

Good people, excellent training, good benefits, excellent brand

    Cons

No work life balance, due to no weekends off other than summer program.. Other home builders have better programs to compensate for working many weekends a year. Pay is okay but not a lot of room for increase.

    Advice to Management

One weekend off a month like other home builders. Would really make the job more enjoyable to have some sort of work life balance.

I have been working at Toll Brothers full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people that work here are awesome. Most are involved and participate in team building type events and extra-curricular classes. There is a feeling of community and that is what is most enjoyable about working here.

    Cons

The work itself, and the daily office life is stale. In this particular department, day-to-day work is ALWAYS the same. Rarely will you have a chance to work on anything other than in-house upkeep or production work.

The pay is about $10k lower for the majority of positions than that of industry standards and as a result the turnover rate is incredibly high. Managements position on such a predicament is to let people leave rather than match the competitions' rates. Pay increases (without promotions) are capped at 3% unless special circumstances occur. There are many people who have been with the company for a while and will stay so promotion past lower titles is rare. The benefits are about industry standard.

    Advice to Management

Work on retaining the people you already have trained by paying them properly rather than let them leave and have to train new hires.

I have been working at Toll Brothers full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Ability to run the project like its your own company with the project management, construction management, marketing, and sales teams. Also, incredible growth opportunities within the company and people are open to new ideas, constructive criticism, and making processes more efficient

    Cons

Very little training. Either teach yourself or bother someone until they give you some help but the company doesnt invest any time in face to face training...the only training they've got is online via videos from corporate

    Advice to Management

If you advertise the APM training program to new recruits, then actually have an APM training program. Also, if Project Managers are tasked with leading and training their teams, they should be taught how to do so before taking over projects, otherwise you get projects where people struggle to succeed in-spite of management, not because of
