I worked at Toll Brothers full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people that I got to work with everyday were great and very helpful. I enjoyed engaging with the homeowners.

    Cons

They don't care where you live, the commute was awful. They didn't have a mentor program, it was hit the ground running and a sink or swim mentality.

Too many guidelines to get your walk thru bonuses and customer feedback bonus.

    Advice to Management

Work on mentoring new hires and give them the opportunity to grow.

I worked at Toll Brothers full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The company provides a great deal of ability to utilize individual skills and experience while running a stand alone profit center. You are completely accountable for construction, sales and profitability.

    Cons

The community or multiple community responsibility requires total dedication, this is not a company that you can be successful if you only work 40 hours a week.

    Advice to Management

To join Toll Brothers you must be able to hit the ground running as no one will walk you through being a project manager

I have been working at Toll Brothers full-time

    Pros

Large company that most people know.

    Cons

Too many cooks in the kitchen.
    Too many meetings.
    Too many processes.

    Advice to Management

Cut back on some of the processes and have less meetings. Employees need time to do their job and not attend meetings and conference calls half the time.

I worked at Toll Brothers full-time

    Pros

Money was great while the market was good. Job was easy and fun.

    Cons

The company I worked for was bought by Toll Brothers. They changed all of our contracts to say we lost all commission due to us if we were fired. Then they started writing up the sales managers that were owed high commissions for frivolous things like not baking cookies, or a chair not straight. It was very obvious they were looking to have us quit - which all but two did.

    Cons

Employees drink during job and after job.

I have been working at Toll Brothers full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

A company that strives for excellence
    Strong benefits
    Supportive colleagues
    Fantastic leadership
    Ambitious atmosphere
    Solid work/life balance
    Good pay
    Surprisingly entrepreneurial despite bureacracy

    Cons

There are always cons, but it really depends on what department/location in which you work. Gossip is average along with all of the other standard problems of working with people (poor communication, differences in work ethic, etc.).

    Advice to Management

Stay on the path of progress; keep evolving. You're doing a great job!

I worked at Toll Brothers full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good pay, great health benefits, good co-workers and plenty of opportunities to advance if you can tolerate the politics. Overall, I would recommend.

    Cons

Depending on the Division that you work in, your opportunity to advance may be severely limited. If you work in a smaller or ancillary business division, you may wind up getting pigeon-holed with no real opportunities outside the division. Also, like any large, public company you are constantly bombarded by ethics and other worthless training. On top of that, there are a lot of antiquated policies and procedures that management is reluctant to change. This is due in large part to them spending most of their career only at Toll and being clueless as to what best practices are in the industry or at their competitors.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the old and dead weight that makes up the senior ranks of the company. Hopefully this will promote innovation in the lower and younger ranks of the company.
