If you like working outside, and with kids, its the place for you.
Pretty normal pay for the age group they hire (high school/college students)
Working with some of these kids is not for the faint of heart

A lot of fun to work there as a counselor
Long hours and it does not pay well.
You get to work with cool kids and participate in fun activities.
Once you get to the counselor side you really see how the main counselors are
I worked at Tom Sawyer Camps full-time
I worked as a Horse Counselor and loved my experience! It was a ton of work and was very physically exhausting but I loved every minute of it! Getting to know the kids, horses, and coworkers was a great experience and I made some amazing memories.
Obviously the pay is quite low but it really is worth it for the experience.
Hang out outside all day in a gorgeous park
Get paid to do the above
Learn valuable skills
Some kids are absolute nightmares
Advice to Management
Keep on keeping on

The staff are some of the nicest and most supportive people you will ever meet. Directors really want you to succeed, so it's always great to ask for help. Every day is a new challenge. You will have fun and learn so much. Shaping the lives of children is so rewarding.
Working with kids all day is emotionally exhausting. When you get home, you will immediately need to take a nap. Sometimes dealing with over-protective parents is stressful.

As a first job, it is a great opportunity to build your confidence and take on a lot of responsibility while learning management and conflict resolution skills. It is a shame that camp counselors aren't viewed as valuable in the business world.
Managers could be more supportive and less critical. Don't treat staff like kids.

Grow within yourself, pushed to become a better "you"
Work in an environment where you have an abundance of planning freedom
Surrounded by supportive staff, I have never worked in a more close-knit environment
Supervisors are always there to support
Gain great life skills that I can carry to future careers
There is little mobility in the company, but it is a summer job
Great experiences. Great friends. Fun time!
You have to run around playing games, get dirty in the mud, go swimming and ride horses. So if you don't like those things than may not be the place for you. But I LOVED it!
