I have been working at Tom's of Maine full-time

    Pros

High quality true natural products are a result of a tight-knit group of a hard working independent team of high achievers. Continuing to thrive as a division of Colgate.

    Cons

Division of Colgate adds complexity to the entrepreneurially driven organization with a strong heritage of independence. Still, strength in the people.

I worked at Tom's of Maine full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Nice office and some good people. Salary and benefits decent for Maine.

    Cons

    - No longer independent. Most big decisions made by Colgate - Colgate uses as training ground , leaders are very inexperienced - No opportunities for advancement unless you will relocate - Layoffs are increasingly common

    I worked at Tom's of Maine full-time

    Pros

    Headquarters in Maine are nice.

    Cons

Leadership is poor, it feels like a training ground for Colgate. Resources are so limited that is a constant source of frustration and leadership does not advocate for Tom's employees. Pay is ok if you don't ever want a real raise and are ok with bonuses being unachievable.

    I worked at Tom's of Maine full-time

    Pros

Tom's of Maine is a very values driven company that works to create goodness in the community while still generating a profit and staying the leader in natural care. They offer unique benefits, for example, employees are encouraged to use five percent of their paid work time to volunteer. I feel like this company actually listens to their customers and encourages an open and honest dialogue. I was proud to be an employee and really enjoyed my time here.

    Cons

Unfortunately I felt like their unique culture changed over the past few years. Originally all new employees started their positions by going through two courses where you learn the core values and vision of the company. It was a great way to be sure all employees were on the same page and to create a real community feel within the organization.

I worked at Tom's of Maine full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Over the year Tom's has attracted very talented people committed to the company mission and the quality of the products.

    Cons

Major culture change over the years. Used to promote very team-oriented environment supported by intensive training. Has lost much of the core brand and team culture with its corporate influence.
