    Pros

    PTO , Good People ,

    Cons

Upper Management, Politics, No Advancement, Disrespected, Not Valued, Not trusted to do your own work, they will preach the TEAM .. but it is not a TEAM.. it is who's more likely to make the upper management look better. This company is by all means the definition of GOOD OL' BOYS CLUB. Has other people in different positions filling in and not compensated , not appreciated at all. This company is nothing but a JOKE. if you want to be , under valued, subjected to sexual alienation, treated as if you are stupid , and give approval to be walked on.. then this is the company for you!! if you have self-esteem and value your sanity DO NOT WORK HERE AT ANY BRANCH, IL, FL, CA. The work load is overloading, you wear at least 3 to 4 hats every single day, expected to complete 4-6 goals in less than 6 months, as they are never able to get them out in the beginning of the year. Does NOT treat women with respect, but treats them as work horses and mindless bimbos.

    Advice to Management

Treat people as you want to me treated. Listen to your associates. Put people in the positions you hired them to be in... not what you need filled at the moment. Stop playing with peoples lives, as when You hire people with the experience and pay them well, but then treat them with disrespect and act like they have no voice and treat them as they have no clue in what they are doing. How are you ever going to keep anyone. Start treating women as equals if you expect them to do the work of a BUYER then pay them like a Buyer. Stop USING / ABUSING PEOPLE. The Upper Management in Topco should be FIRED all of them, from directors all the way and that is also INCLUDING RANDY SKODA. As HE'S the MAIN REASON this behavior by SR. MGMT. and the men of Topco has been allowed to continue. Absolutely NOBODY will stand up for what is right in fear of being fired. Stop treating people like they are DIRT !!! One day, there are going to be enough people that have had enough of Topco's crap, and they are going to sues you for hostile work environment, sexual harassment, and discrimination.

    Pros

Some great, hard working people work here. Depending on your supervisor, you might have streamlined processes to guide you. Not much else.

    Cons

Non-existent onboarding/ training for new employees-- management expects you to quickly grasp some counter-intuitive programs very quickly. Although Topco moved to SAP in order to streamline processes, the transition was an abysmal time for all involved. When I left, they were still attempting to work out all the kinks in the system.

    Advice to Management

Reward hard-working employees and don't cater to some employees that can't handle their own weight even though they have been there 20+ years.

I have been working at Topco Associates full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Decent pay and benefits and great lower level people

    Cons

Old boys club where women in upper management are merely tokens. Atmosphere in management is so polluted the last 2 Human Services Directors quit due to blatant sexism, and insular, arrogant upper managers. Project Everest is a spectacular failure which is being concealed from owners, (members). The company morale is in freefall with astronomical turnover. You have almost zero chance to come up to upper management thru the ranks, invariably, management comes in from the outside, former fraternity brothers and friends of management. Absolutely zero career development program.

    Advice to Management

My advice to the members is to come in, and fire everybody in upper management who is responsible for Everest and the sale of IT to Capgemini. What happened to the mentoring program?

    Cons

poor morale, vested time for 401K is too long and favoritisms.

    Advice to Management

How much more do you think you can consolidate? SAP fixed yet?

I have been working at Topco Associates full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Convenient location to many expressways.

    Cons

Losing focus on priorities. Treat seniority with considerable disrespect. Misrepresent what really is and expect the employees that know the business to back it up. Has become more fluff than the quality it used to be.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring temp mgt to get rid of the seasoned quality and pensions and blend the new spirit to have the best of both.

    Pros

Good pay, decent benefits and the bonus structures are so accessible they might as well be gauranteed!

    Cons

LONG hours for salary positions (10-13 hours). Upper department level management lacks accountability.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. We give you honest feedback every year and have sit down meetings with HR to discuss it but it doesn't change!

I have been working at Topco Associates full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good vacation time when you're allowed to take it, ability to rise in the organization quickly due to high turnover, office is close to I-90

    Cons

Extremely high turnover, frequent instances of favoritism, fear based & secretive management style, overworks high performers, inability to take action on employee concerns, rampant micro-management

    Advice to Management

Listening to employee concerns every two years isn't enough. Take clear, decisive action that addresses at least some of those concerns, and trust your people to perform their jobs more than you are comfortable with.

I worked at Topco Associates full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Many veterans who knew the business and cared truly about the company. Many different departments so will get a large dose of experience in the grocery industry.

    Cons

Recently decided to put all eggs in one SAP basket. Incorrect decision because of the platform itself and the difficulty in getting it up and running. Will be a huge money pit with very little return. And while that was going on, the people who could have turned it around or at least made the carnage less were treated like crap. They left and now the remaining are not in a good situation.

    Advice to Management

Learn to trust the people that were keeping the business working for so long instead of slick consultants that promise a lot and deliver very little.

I have been working at Topco Associates full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible work schedule with very good health package. My immediate boss does not micro manage. Employees are very friendly.

    Cons

Pay is terrible, Upper Management is clueless , Women and Minorities are treated like second class citizens especially when it comes to getting credit and promotions. Company will fold in about 8 - 15 years or even sooner.

    Advice to Management

You have hired some great people but seems as though you can't keep them please take a honest assessment into why that is the case.
