I have been working at Toro Company full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits and pay, community minded

    Cons

Closed circle of management, promotions are far more about popularity with executives (who seem to have over stayed their usefulness to the organization) than proficiency and effectiveness, reported breaches of policy at executive level result in protection of the executive at all costs, rather than protection of the organization. If you are seeking a growth-oriented company with room to grow, don't choose Toro unless you are in tight with the C-levels and Sr. VPs.

    Advice to Management

Make some changes - bring in some fresh ideas, fresh faces and be willing to listen. Know when it's time to let go of ineffective or overbearing management who are thwarting opportunities for company growth.

Long tenured employees sometimes make it difficult to change, although things are definitely improving in that regard.

    Pros

I worked at Exmark manufacturing division of Toro, the company overall is well run and has a lot to offer for the hard work individual that can show upper management that you have the skills and talent to move up.

    Cons

When it comes to race and gender this location is the worst since all hourly and most salary people are local and narrow minded when it comes to race and gender, Human resource are not trained nor equipped to handle these issues.

    Advice to Management

Hire a human resource manager that can lead the hiring and training process into the next level and open the door for any talented individuals to join your team and train your employees to work and accept people from all different background, race , athensity and gender.

    Pros

Love the summer hours. Enjoyed working for 10 years.

    Cons

No telecommuting. HR moves too slow with employee issues; doesn't support supervisors.

    Advice to Management

Time to clean house and retain employees that actually work instead of employees that have been there a long time but are no longer accomplishing tasks!

    Pros

There are some great people there! Great benefits and good pay. They do a lot for the community, and are very generous to the United way!

    Cons

The union needs to go away!! Some of them are great employees. But 70% of them don't even work a full day's work!
The office people don't get away with what
They do!! $65,000 a year to do nothing, is
Not acceptable for company like Toro!!

    Advice to Management

Hire managers and supervisors to control
There people!! Keep them busy and control
There personal activities! Keep them informed of company policies! And if need be utilize the policies and terminate them
    On performance!!
