    Empowered to Lead with Authenticity

Sep 29, 2022 - Store Director in New York, NY
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

I feel like I'm not only encouraged to show up as my authentic self, but we are also celebrated for doing so. I feel empowered and I'm inspired by the leadership, my peers and my team. The Brand attracts some of the most intelligent and kind people in the industry.

    Cons

Really tough to think of a con, honestly it is a culture that must be experienced! It has always been important to me to work for a brand that not only " speaks" about diversity and inclusion, but that LIVES these values. From senior leadership, to the stores, it feels GOOD and makes me so PROUD to see people who look like me. I've admired this brand from afar for nearly 8 years!

"love what you do and you will never work a day in your life "

    Mar 5, 2023 - Vice President
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

When I was young, I received this career advice: "love what you do and you will never work a day in your life ". The team at Tory Burch is full of people who love what they do, which makes it a great place to work. The company values are honesty, kindness, compassion, humility, integrity & passion. These values set the tone of the pleasant corporate culture. Also, I find it inspiring to work for a mission driven company like Tory Burch. I know that the work I do every day not only benefits the growth of the company, it also benefits Tory's Embrace Ambition Foundation, which supports equality and the advancement of women worldwide. We are making beautiful product for our customers, while simultaneously fostering positive change in the world.

    Cons

Work /Life balance was challenging, but the balance has improved.

    decreasing stars...

Mar 25, 2023 - Support Supervisor in Houston, TX
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

employee discount is good, in store company culture is great, GM down..

    Cons

most of these cons are DM and above related in store management is overall great, however as changes trickle down its only a matter of time before we see similar issues in store. Overbearing DMs, who micromanage, and show favoritism. Company seems to care about only about money now, work/life balance is out the window, force you to take your vacation days in increments of 5, expect you to reply to email and text messages on PTO. was passed over for opportunities due to " does not interview well" - probably due to my race\sex or my speech impediment. Tory was a great company when times are good and the money is flowing, when recession hits and there is an economic slow down everything she stood for went out the window . maybe its the new CEO ...

    Low pay for Luxury company

Jan 12, 2023 - Seasonal Sales Associate in Paramus, NJ
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

    * Free Holiday lunch on the weekends * Commission is excellent :) * 60% discount during the holiday * The training went well. * Tech-savvy company.

    Cons

    * pay rate of $15 is low for the tri-state area. I'm shocked a luxury brand offers a low pay rate. please raise your wage! * All the luxury stores in the tristate seasonal sales associates or regular sale associate start the pay rate at $18. Side note: Target is giving better benefits than a luxury store lol. * The stock room is disorganized and it's hard to find the items. It needs a better organizational system. * the iPad store application needs improvement too. it runs slowly. Clients are very impatience and sales are lost due to this. * turnover rate is high in this store. Side note: tory Burch should change the logo, it's copyrighted by the Portuguese Football Federation and their heritage. Cultural appropriation!

Great Company Culture and Supportive Management

Mar 1, 2023 - Director Production Planning in New York, NY
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Collaboration! Leadership has done an exceptional job of recruiting rock star candidates. The people/cross functional partners are the best I have ever experienced. In the current business/economic climate we are faced with a lot of challenges both internally and externally but the teams/people are all really dedicated, helpful and most of all committed to solutions!

    Cons

Tory Burch is in its teenage years, we can use a serious overhaul in terms of efficiencies and best practices.

Sometimes the best perspective is a fresh perspective. Lisa Van Loo, Sr. Director of Corporate Global Professional Development, started a pilot program to support new leaders in their onboarding process six months after joining our company. “Onboarding at a new company can be daunting for anyone, myself included,” said Lisa, who is a certified life coach. “At Tory, we like to move at super speed. It’s easy to get swept up in the way we do things, but we need our leaders to be changemakers, to question the way we do things. These coaching sessions are designed to support and push our leaders to maintain their confidence and skills, while navigating a lot of newness.” The program features five one-to-one coaching sessions focused on everything from defining goals that are aligned to their department’s priorities to demystifying their leadership style for their team. Shanà Williams, who joined us in June as Director of Production Planning for Footwear, appreciated the time and space to process all the newness and change. “It was interactive, fun and without pressure,” she said.

Our Chief People Officer Keisha Smith-Jeremie has created a tradition at our company; each year, she invites the global team to set an intention for how we want to show up for ourselves and for each other in the New Year. Many members of #TeamTory find it a helpful practice and share their goals in six words or less on our intranet. As Keisha noted in an email, “Seeing the words in in print or pixels can give your intention more substance; it’s no longer simply a wish, but a commitment to yourself.” Her six-word intention for 2023? Lean into your loves every day. To her, this means “Don’t wait for joy to come to you — choose the people and places and things that bring a smile to your face and nourish your soul.”
