    Pros

Great leadership at the top in most departments, good support and training, company is changing (in a good way) and will take time. I’d suggest if you’re new or even a veteran, stick with it. This business isn’t easy, but the products are good and Toshiba has a variety of products/services to sell. Note, many of these reviews are TBS reps and may not understand the full corporate picture because their regional offices act like little fiefdoms.

    Cons

Nothing really major. The business equip business is tough...but I’ve never had a sales job that was easy. One major con is that their are employees with ‘power’ or control that don’t seem to care, they’re just there to collect a paycheck it seems. Get rid of them and move on.

    Advice to Management

Keep reevaluating how we do business, internal org structures, policies/procedures. Continues to retain employees that produce and challenger the status quo.

I have been working at Toshiba America Business Solutions full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedule, benefits (just ok, but better than nothing), potential to do great and make a lot of money, (depending on manager) management is patient while you're growing your book of business and will communicate with you.

    Cons

Team/Company culture is non-existent, managers are selling sales managers which means no time to support reps, training is GREAT - but management doesn't take it seriously, effectively making it useless for 90% of reps (no one on your team will believe in it/promote it in the office). Car package/bonuses/benefits are non-existent to poor. You WILL be lied to at the interview telling you that there is a possibility to make 6 figures your first year - this is not realistic. You will have no account base to upgrade and will have to pound pavement looking for new business (which is actually standard in sales so not so bad) - the bad part is you will get NO support for your accounts. You will be there during equipment install, any time maintenance fails to show up (they don't communicate with clients when clients call in service so if it's a busy day or they can't show up within the promised 4 hour window - the client is left in the dark/mad at you after waiting for service for 5 hours). You will have to essentially coordinate everything all while maneuvering red tape with paperwork, credit, mandatory training sessions, team meetings to tell you that the team isn't making quota, and TRY to make friends in the warehouse so they can do their job and support you trying to sell used equipment and/or inform you of what is available. The service/warehouse people really make it difficult to do your job as a salesman. I would pass on this one and go to a company with more structure. There are good people who will do their best, but unfortunately, they seem to be the exception, not the norm. Hopefully they can get their business together and create an environment that is conducive to actually being successful in sales.

    Advice to Management

Take the training seriously and instill/enforce it with your team. This structure will create a culture with the sales reps that will help them to be successful. Also, create a system where service is held accountable for account management irrespective of the salespersons involvement. Salespeople shouldn't have to juggle so many roles - this limits the income of the company. Last, but not least, look at what other companies are offering salary/benefits-wise and match. If not, you will have reps quitting after under a year because of better offers all day.

    Pros

Great company. Work/Life balance is awesome. Management is great, support teams are great.

    Cons

Tough to work within a territory when you don't actually have access to all the clients in that territory. Trying to make a living within a territory however you don't have total access to the territory because reps are holding onto accounts even though their office is over an hour away from said territory.

    Advice to Management

Just trust your reps that you know are capable of doing the job.

    Pros

Nice central location in the Downtown area. The give back to the community.

    Cons

Poor upper management and always cutting back due to Toshiba's unethical business practices and bad investment choices. Stay away from nuclear reactors.

    Advice to Management

Stop the nepotism in sales. Service, warehouse, and dispatch should be under one manager. Don't mess with pay. Trust your employees and take care of them.

  9. "Upper Management brings in their own favorites to fill TABS open/potential open positions."

I have been working at Toshiba America Business Solutions full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

TABS had relocated from Irvine, CA to Lake Forest, CA. And all is going well at the new location.

    Cons

Quite a few TAEC management personnel had joined TABS in the last few years, and they had voiced to only want to bring in their TAEC co-workers to fill TABS open/potential open positions and will not consider TABS internal personnel. Even though TABS internal personnel may be more qualified. This practice is very demoralize to say the less. While there are so many capable and talented TABS personnel in all departments, such as SCM group.

Previously TAEC person even voiced TABS personnel is not good enough - note that if TAEC person is so good, why is TAEC business/staff keep shrinking? While TABS is doing so well. Also why did he join TABS if he believes TAEC is so superior??
