    Pros

The people here are great to work with. Managers are fair and supportive for the most part. The work/life balance is excellent, as are the salary and benefits.

    Cons

There is simply not enough bodies to get the work done, so all areas suffer. Management says they want to make things better and help fix problems, but seldom execute on any tangible improvements. You are often on your own to get things and get things done.

    Advice to Management

Give the people working the front lines and the back office the help they need. Listen to the feedback/input you get when you ask for it and do something with it and/or deliver on what you say you are going to do.

    Pros

    Friendly coworkers, flexible work hours.

    Cons

Micro management by the myriad of managers. When not if there will be a RIF is the motto. Long term employees only hang on for their RIF severance.

    Advice to Management

Retire and let them hire some real talent who have experience and education to salvage what's left of your business.

    Pros

Good location for now, decent salary

    Cons

No direction, constant turnover and layoffs, no work life balance, high work load, management uninterested in employee's thoughts, indecision on company relocation.

    Advice to Management

Get back to basics and core business while there's still time to reinvent the company.

    Pros

There are great people who work there and the offices are nice.

    Cons

This is a Boy's Club. They have VP's for everything. They are very top heavy and upper management likes to hear themselves talk but they don't want to listen to the worker bees.

    Pros

    Decent work environment and benefits.

    Cons

Doesn't seem to be any plan beyond six months. Some products not competitive in the consumer market. Employees not treated as reusable assets within Toshiba.

I'm really not sure what the President & CEO's responsibilities are other than setting up the annual golf tournament.

    Pros

Benefits, good 401K, large company presents more opportunities to expand career and learn more about the business.

    Cons

No fore site regarding IT infrastructure plan for updating hardware, software, applications. No longer test new applications prior to a Go Live date. Just roll out the applications creating more stress on company and IT dept. Lacking resources to complete projects in a timely and complete manor.

    Advice to Management

Develop a plan, test, test, test applications before roll out to company employees. Provide the needed IT professionals to complete projects the correct way.

I have been working at Toshiba America Info full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good work/like balance and benefit perks (although many tech companies offer more). Makes good products. Great place to gain cultural working experience (Japanese company). People are friendly enough. Good long-term employment potential.

    Cons

Very top-heavy management structure for a subsidiary, with many employees having little-to-no insight on goals and product strategies set forth by the company's headquarters in Japan. Because of the top-heavy management structure, there is little to no room for professional growth - and if you're lucky enough to receive a promotion, it may take a good five years to get it. There are many employees that have logged many years with the company, are still doing the same job and have become complacent and afraid of change as a result. Many employees don't know or care about the products the company sells. Its a very non-collaborative environment and there is often a lot of political infighting between groups. The environment can be stagnating at times; overall its a very different culture than what you would expect from a modern tech company. Salaries are often not market competitive and there is no employee stock incentive program.

I have been working at Toshiba America Info full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The company has well recognized name worldwide, offers better-than-average benefits and compensations for high tech. They have leading technology and hired many good people.

    Cons

The company have grown too big over the years. The top management is focused on short term results, they lost sight of the company's core values. The organization is too bureaucracy to get work done. with frequent reorganizations/lay offs, majority of employees are afraid to speak up and take risk for the company's benefits. Not many job advancement opportunities here--full of discriminations and the HR is bias. You either need to quit, come back later to get a better title, or you will need to be in the "boys club" circle to get promoted. It is not about what you do or can do, it is about who you know. If you are good at office politics, never disagree with your manager, then you are safe.

    Advice to Management

Value the brand name and core value of Toshiba, don't be short sighted. If the current management team you brought in haven't positive results for many years, it is time to do something and make changes for the long run and promote within. Stop letting incompetent managers ruin the company.
