    Pros

Challenging work. Fair to good salary, decent benefits.

    Cons

There is not much room for advancement. For the sake of fairness there is no incentive to go the extra mile.

    Advice to Management

Massive data collection is not the answer, but especially when the data collection and input is selective to achieve a predetermined outcome.

    Pros

Smaller company that was a family feeling company and have since hired General Electric managers that have since destroyed the team work ethics.

    Cons

HR and Politics are out of control due to the General Electrics policies that did not work at General Electrics but were transferred on with the ex GE Managers

    Advice to Management

Reduce upper management spots that came from other failing positions at GE, Philips, and Siemens that were concerned more about their made up numbers that kept them in a higher paying position which degraded the field positions.

I have been working at Toshiba America Medical Systems full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

TAMS has been a great place to work for over 15 years! I have been able to build a wonderful career here - one that supports a work/life balance that is very important to me.

    Cons

We are a smaller player in the market so we have a hard time attracting experienced field employees (both sales and service engineers).

    Advice to Management

Be more visible....walk around the building so we know you are here.

I worked at Toshiba America Medical Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Aesthetically beautiful work environment in the front lobby,.
    Friendly work environment.
    Competitive compensation.
    Room for advancement.

    Cons

There was a vague sense of instability toward the end of my time there. Many sweeping layoffs. The IT contractors, (NOT the internal IT staff, they were fantastic) left quite a bit to be desired.

    Pros

Good Co-workers, CT was fun to work on.

    Cons

Management was poor and had high turn over. Politically charged and hard to get things done. Bad infrastructure. No cost of living raises and meager performance increases no matter how hard you worked. Effort never equaled reward. Poor medical benefits. Inconsistency negatively effected customer service.

    Advice to Management

Stick around for more than a year and then treat people like people. They are a valuable resource. Listen to them once and a while. Give them encouragement and raises. More Carrot and less Stick.

I worked at Toshiba America Medical Systems full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits and lots of good people.

    Cons

High turnover, sales quota too high, stuck in the past culture, can't find their groove in the market. Good Ole Boy system, product performance issues everywhere, customers don't trust and find it hard to commit to purchase from Toshiba. The past leadership teams haven't prepared the company for the future. They have only tried to drive short term results and have neglected to see the market for what it is. Good reps either leave or are forced out by bad managers or arbitrary quotas. The same quota is given to each territory regardless of historic sales and installed base.

    Advice to Management

Turnover of reps just causes more issues. It's not the reps fault that the company is where it is. There are 99 other factors. Turnover looses relationships, looses traction, looses trust and keeps you in the same negative loop that the company is in now. Accept the fact that the company has a place and that place is the low end market for a low price. Invest in your products and have them meet the US market needs. Once your product is on par or better than the competition, build your service team and then attack the radiology teaching centers and seed the future. Know it will take time. Develop your people in the meantime.

I have been working at Toshiba America Medical Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

TAMS is not a complex matrix organization like some of the others, which gives the ability to know top management, and have a voice.

The culture is good, without a high level of micromanagement or scrutinty.

The company has good benefits and pays on time and is very good about correct pay for commissions - no blurred lines like other places I have been.

The products are good and the service team is highly committed.

    Cons

The job is a real challange and it takes a lot to turn a territory around to get Toshiba into the top positions in deal. The base salary is too low.

    Advice to Management

    Raise the base pay
Communicate to remote employees through local manangement and not just corporate communications. Train your teams on the new system changes that are rolled out.
